SoDakWing 8 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 It must be true. Ozzie is our weak link. And he has been great. Hence us advancing. Go Ozzie, I had faith in ya. Was upset like everyone else but knew you have what it takes to take a team through the playoffs.
weGotTheCup89 41 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 If we wanted, we could continue to call him our weak link. That reflects incredibly well on the rest of our team...
pavyaz19 1 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Chris Osgood : Master Giver of Rebounds He apparently never had a coach that taught him how to swallow up a puck. Regardless, he was solid tonight... yet gave me about 8 heart attacks.
Dynheart 42 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 I think the rebound issue is more reflected on his style of goaltending. He seems very old fashion, and back then if you watch some of the greats, they used that blocker pad like a friggin baseball bat. Osgood is the only one I've seen in recent years who still does that. He's kinda a hybrid goalie, but I can't help but think he's more stand-up than hybrid. Conklin on the other hand, he's a hybrid goalie through and through. Anyway, goaltenders back in the day gave up, what we would call today, massive rebounds by deflecting it, and to me, that's just another way of controlling the puck. Swallowing a shot isn't the only way to effectively control a rebound. /shrug That's my take on it. H'es very old fashion with his goaltending style.
motorcitykid 42 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Hells yeah!! 11 games in and he shows no sign of letting up. And MOST impressive is this new Ozzie who seems just a little more pissed off than usual in the post gamers since the playoffs started. "I don't have a place in the Top 10 goalie wins of all time by being a halfass goalie ... " Awesome. He's on his own mission and frankly fed up with the doubters in and outside Detroit. 8 more Ozzie!!!!
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 He is AMAZING as always. So great tonight. OZZIE! OZZIE! OZZIE!
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 There's no other goalie I'd want back there than Oz, and that's a fact. He has been massive all postseason long. He makes the big saves at big times.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Indeed, Ozzie is of the old "swat the puck away" school of thinking as opposed to Hiller's usual "swallow it up" technique. The important part is that since he got his confidence back he's been able to abandon "technique" and just stop the puck however possible, which leads to some goalmouth scrambles and some iffy moments but ultimately has given the Wings a chance to win so far this postseason. To be fair, Ozzy's definitely had a renaissance in terms of his technique. In terms of technique, the guy who showed up after the lock-out is miles above the guy who left for for the Island. Absolutely, and that was necessary for him to keep up with the butterfly goaltenders of today. That said, Ozzy's greatest asset is the space that his head is in; for some reason he is a guy who stops the puck when necessary and doesn't care about anything else in the world while he's playing. The last save, the last goal, none of it matters, it's just about making the stop and winning the game. That's what makes Ozzie such a great playoff performer. NHLrules? 32 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Ill add Ozzie should have never been traded from this team. He had an awesome 01 playoff and was sent away after the team couldnt score more than a few games on the Kings. That was a travesty. Way to go Ozzie Ive been on your side since 1996! Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Dude rivals Brodeur for clutchest goalie of the modern age, he'll probably be above him should he win the Cup this year. He'll be a hall of famer when he retires in 2 years or so time.
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Always had Osgood's back. Favorite Red Wing all time.
adtthosa 5 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Osgood was stellar, espescially in that first period. If Anaheim scores first, I'm not liking our chances. Ozzie is clutch, what more can you say.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Ozzie's been one of our best players, especially against Anaheim. He kept the Wings in those games, made some absolutely monster saves, and I would argue even stole one of the early Anaheim games.
Blaayze 25 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 coming from someone who was just at game 7. OSGOOD IS GOD!!! that glove save two minutes into the game was huge. Game seven was the best experience of my life. GO Wings! OZZIE OZZIE OZZIE! This!!! Had to be the loudest I have EVER heard. After Clears scored, it was so friggen loud! haha. Chants were amazing, the boys HAD to be feeling it. Sheesh, everyone was riding him so hard in the reg. season, I'm so glad he stuck to his word. "I win, It is what I do." Really makes me think of that one picture with Ozzie looking contemplative, and it says "Faith: Ozzie is disturbed you have so little," or something to that effect. Way to go Ozzie, keep er' goin bud!

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Gee, and at one time during the season I had "I still believe in Chris Osgood" as my sig line. Guess what? I still do! Way to go, Oz. You're the Man!

Theophany 110 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Little known fact: Osgood doesn't have blood in his veins. It's actually ice.
The Noodle 39 14 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 He made some clutch saves this game gotta give him props!! I think this was the first game where he actually deserved the ozzie!! ozzie!! chants... the fans who attend these games have been pretty annoying and random with there ozzie chants and you guys even have to admit that lol. For example during 3OT game ducks clank it off the post and the fans start chanting ozzie!! ozzie!! or when he makes a routine blue line save... we hear it again lol. Or how about when we are in there end...? Ozzie!! Ozzie!! lol kinda ridiculous. Sometimes the chants are random and make no sense but they love em and he was awesome tonight!! Dynheart 42 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 Well, I think it's because us fans support Ozzie regaurdless of what kind of save. Other teams fans have chants for their arena, ours just happens to be Ozzie. It's not only used for cheering him for good saves, but it's used to boost the team when down, or when they are on fire it shows that the home crowd is in the game and no where else.
