I don't hate any of the hawks

As I have looked over the boards for the last few days I've noticed very little emotion or anger towards the Blackhawks. Last series it seemed like there was alwys something to get mad about(even in victory)

I know we're only two games into this series and there is more than enough time for something to change, but do you find it a little hard to hate the Hawks? When we were playing the Ducks, I seriously hated about every one of their players. Getzlaf,Perry,Pronger, the brothers Neidemeyer,Selenne, Merchant, etc. The only one I didn't really hate is Bobby Ryan and I think that's only because he's a rookie. Those "guys" are some of the dirtiest players I've seen. From cross checking a guy a foot shorter than you to beating up a player with an injury after the game that did it all and I will always hate them for that.

The Hawks have... Dustine Byfuglien. He's the Hawks version somewhere between Matby and Homer. He's annoying but I don't hate him. Past that Kane, Toews, Sharp, Havlat, Campbell, Keith. I don't hate any of them at all and would want any of the on the wings save Campbell and that's just because I think he's overpaid.

Don't get me wrong I want the Wings to beat these guys into a pulp on our way to winning the cup again. I just find in this series the games are great and all but between the games, there just isn't that much to talk about.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

Nah, I don't feel any hate or even dislike toward the Hawks. They're a young team and they're fun to watch.

I guess it's also because I don't feel threatened by them. I believe we're going to take this series and that it'll be a huge learning experience for the Hawks.. so that helps to keep my feelings in line.

I agree completely. It's hard to hate a team that doesn't goon it up during the game and then whine about the reffing after the game (aka Anaheim).

I'm not a big fan of Ben Eager because of his history of throwing some cheap shot elbows but he hasn't done any of that nonsense against the Wings so it's hard to truly hate the guy.

I don't have any hatred for the Hawks. The old rivalry is in a lull right now, because we've been so good and they've been so bad. From a Chicago fan perspective, they cannot stand the Wings and HATE them with a passion. I say, take a number. Unless you're a Detroit Fan, I'd say all opposing team fans feel that way.

This really isn't a rivalry RIGHT NOW. IT'll take some blood and OT's, maybe even a couple 'sweeps' in playoff rounds to fire that rivalry up.

I don't hate the Blackhawks because we have never seriously been threatened by them. For the most part, they don't goon it up like Anaheim or Calgary and they are fun to watch. I did hate seeing Byfuglien get away with that little acting job on Osgood, but other than that, it isn't a series yet. Maybe they'll do something to help me hate them in Chicago.

The Hawks just barely made the playoffs this year. Give a possible rivalry some time to develop.

I have thought about this too and i agree. I don't like Byfuglien but that's about it. Like somebody else said, it's their fanbase that i can't stand but only because they hate us so passionately while we never really had a reason to think about them much. I like the chicago team itself but now i love just driving their fans insane. Anaheim though, that's a team where i hate both the players AND the fanbase. I feel that they are our biggest rival right now.

I don't hate the Hawks or any of their players. I hate the Ducks more than any other team and hate most of their players. The thing is I'd hate the most of the Ducks players no matter who they play for because they cheapshot, goon up on smaller guys, intend to injure other players, and then whine after the game. I like most all of the Hawks players and when they aren't playing against the Wings root for them because of how they play.

Just barely made the playoffs? They're the 4th seed in the West with 104 points. Both the Blues, BJ's had 92 points and the Ducks had 91. The Ducks barely made the playoffs. No, the Hawks played well all season.

But as for a rivalry, no there isn't one between the teams. Between the fans, yes, one-sided though it is. Hawk fans hate us and our team, we, on the other hand, could care less about them. As for the Wings, I think they respect this Hawks squad, but that's about it.

They were third in points in West with 15 points above the ninth team in the standings. If I remember right they spent the whole season in the top four in West.

I agree with this thread, even though I don't usually hate any hockey players (outside Claude Lemieux), I was much more angry during the Ducks series. Blackhawks don't really have that kind of elements in their team and I think that can be seen in the Photoshop thread.

Eager and Burish are butt monkeys though.

I don't really hate or dislike any member of the Blackhawks like I do the Ducks. Every player plays the way they play and I really haven't seen very much if any dirty stuff done in this series like the last one. I will say there are some players that I don't like just cause of their offensive threat but that's not just he Hawks. I think this series is looking very good and even if there isn't very much emotion it can still make for some great hockey. I've wanted to see and orginal six matchup in the Confernece and or Cup finals at least in the West for a long time and I'm glad to be able to watch this one. This series is far from over no matter what anyone thinks and I think it will be better and better hockey for us fans to watch.

Cabbie on the street interviews are are a good way to see how players really are, outside of the normal media interviews were they're are just asked about the game and give textbook answers.

That said, I don't like Patrick Kane :P

A lot of the rest of them actually tend to lean towards the "like" side... Khabi, Toews, Kieth, Havlat, Byflugien to name a few

I don't like Khabby's big nose.

But yeah, I don't mind the rest of the Hawks. Byfuglien is on my temporary s*** list for that acting job on Ozzie, but I don't have a grudge against him like I do Pronger, Perry, etc.

I don't like Byfuglien but other than him I think they're a pretty "likeable" team.

I guess that's one reason to why I'm not as nervous in this series as I was in the Anaheim series. Being knocked out by the Hawks would not hurt as much as if the Ducks had beaten us.
