Stuff it in a sack and run away? he's been shaky, ok? this means he's good one game, just ok the next. i think he could steal a game if he were to play tonight but that's not the case. I'm tired of people calling Cleary's goal a fluke goal. Zetterberg threw the puck to the net and Cleary deflected it, which slightly threw off Hiller's balance and then the puck went through. Stats are not the end all be all on judging a player. Stats are one way to judge them but not the final word on the matter. Perfect example is Howe vs Gretzky Howe is the better all around hockey player while Gretzky has better stats..... Again I think Howe is the best hockey player ever due to him not only scoring but also fighting and doing the dirty little things in the corners to create the scoring. Really? The Wings played one crummy team, and two teams that were superior to the three you played. Washington is a joke. They have zero defense. Zero. They have minimal scoring depth. They still took you to 7 games. I don't want to get into a pissing contest here, but the quality of opponent the Wings have played leading up to the finals is superior to the quality of opponent the Pens played. Ask a Wings fan if they were more scared for the Ducks or the Pens. You'll get Ducks from the people that understand hockey. The Pens play a puck possession game. The Wings own the puck possession game. The Wings are the class of the NHL with the puck- you won't find one analyst who wouldn't agree that we're the best puck possession team in the league by a mile. So what's a harder match-up in hockey- playing a lesser puck possession team or playing a shutdown team with size, grit and a build designed to foil puck possession? The Hawks weren't even that good with Khabibulin. He had a .896 GAA going into this series, which was among the lowest of the remaining goalies. Steve Mason had a better GAA than Khabibulin and he was eliminated in the first round. The Hawks were able to win because they got a lot of scoring from their forwards. This round, the Detroit defense has shut down the Hawks forwards, which has resulted in a 3-1 series lead for the Wings. Also, the Wings have not lost a game this playoffs by more than a goal. I think that also speaks volumes to how good the Wings' defense is. Also, the Wings won Game #4, allowing only 1 goal while missing their best defenseman. You can downplay the strength of the opponents the Wings have faced to make yourself feel better, but no one is buying it. The Penguins, on the other hand, took 7 games to beat a Capitals team that had no defensive strength and limited scoring depth. You might be feeling all fine and dandy from sweeping the Hurricanes, but the Hurricanes were just as weak as the Blue Jackets. If it were not for Cam Ward, the Canes would not have made the playoffs and if they did, would have been a first round exit. At least Huet never fell on his face during the BIGGEST game of is life....THen Fell on his ass during the second biggest ......knocking in the CUP clincher.....
