grindlinelove 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 Exactly. The slow starts are another thing, although game one we came out firing broadsides into Flower-boy.
blikst 1 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 All that matters is that the players don't believe the stats. What has happened in the past has nothing to do with this series. If Pittsburg wins their two home games, it's a toss up again.
hankzet40 233 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I'm always nervous for whatever reason. I'm seeing the Pens cheaping one out in game three with ample PP time.
RyanK 1 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 Not worried. Pens have to win 4/5.. unlikely.
Nightfall 871 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I am not nervous at all. No sense of being nervous or stressing over a game we have zero control over. If you are worried about the series even though we are up 2-0, you have reason to be worried. The Pens have outshot us the last few games. They are playing very well defensively but have had some bad bounces go in. Seems like last night they finally got a bounce when Stuart put that puck in our own net, but that was about the end of the bounces. They are getting a lot of chances to score, but just can't capitalize. You have to wonder when the dam will break open. On the flip side, Osgood is playing his best hockey of his career right now. Fleury has to be the best player for the Pens and so far he hasn't responded very well to being that "best player". Lastly, the Wings seem to have luck on their side right now. In order to win the Stanley Cup, you have to have some luck thats for sure. I just can't wait for the next game on Tuesday. I still say Wings win the series in 6 games. A.T.Hun 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I was really worried about back-to-back games on short rest. I don't care if you call the wins ugly, lucky, or whatever. I call them what they are: wins. The Pens had a glorious opportunity to steal at least one game in Detroit and they blew it. Now they absolutely have to win game 3. If you think they were out of their minds on Sunday, just wait to see what happens if they get down by a goal or two on Tuesday--especially if Fleury can't remember how to use his glove. gowingsgo 3 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 We've got the best player on the ice playing on our side....and his name is Osgood. No worries from me
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 Conventional wisdom would have us all buying into a game 3 win at hope for Pitts. I bet even the Pens players are almost taking a game 3 win for granted. I'm not so sure. Usually I get pretty nervous in these situations. But I have a funny feeling the Wings will shock the entire league, win game 3, and take a choke-hold on this series.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted June 1, 2009 Believe me, you're not alone... I won't relax until it's over unless we get lucky and go up 3-0. Pittsburgh is a dangerous team and have already roared back from 0-2 this playoffs. Detroit needs to stay hard on the gas. Um... unless we get lucky? What if the Wings just plain outplay the Pens? And isn't getting the bounces part of winning? I don't understand the thought processes of some people on these forums. When the other team gets the good bounces, it's a fair win. When OUR OWN TEAM gets the bounces, it's not good enough.
Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I had to respond to this thread becaus the title couldn't fit me better. I'm hoping that a 2-0 lead won't be a false sence of security for us and we can fight through our tiredness and pull out 2 more Wins. Yes we need to at least take one game in Pittsburgh in game 3 or 4. I perfer taking it in Gam 3 but that will be very difficult. I'm still so nervous I can't even enjoy things in my life right now. I can barley eat and my mind is constantly on this series, my stomach is turning nots right now. I'm so focused on this series no one knows how bad I want this Stanley Cup back in Detroit at least one more time this season. It's going to take a lot for me to get through this series and when it's all said and done hopefully the pressure can be lifted in a good way, but until then I have to endure. Let's Go Detroit Red Wings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I'm still nervous as hell as well. Not because I doubt the Red Wings whatsoever, not at all. Just the Penguins can be this good. A few bounces go their way, it might not be a 2-0 game. The Penguins aren't suffering from stage freight and they haven't slowed down much. I'm almost always a nervous goof though in playoff series even if my team is up 3-0 with a 5 goal lead in the final game, etc. I'm cautiously optimistic, but this series is far from over. soultrain 43 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 the series isn't over yet so im not gonna put the cup in their hands...it is a race to win 4. we are half way there....and im not as nervous as i was going into game one of colombus (worried about ozzy) but i still think that we are gonna take these *******
egroen 384 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I'm feeling pretty confident. Things were stacked pretty well in the Penguins favor these first two games: Datsyuk out; less rest than the Pens; back-to-back games; Lidstrom and Ericsson just back from injuries -- and the Penguins still lose both by a combined score of 6-2. I don't care what lip-service Pittsburgh is paying to the media, that has to be pretty damn demoralizing, and that frustration certainly showed at the end of each game. The Red Wings could not beat a Pronger-less Ducks in 2007, and I thought that was their kiss of death... they needed to take advantage of that. Penguins just blew two games they should have at least split.

It's like game 2 in the Chicago series, everything was set up for them to win, and they didn't. Now with actual days off in the series they are going to win 4/5 games? I don't think so. Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I really wish I could be as confident as you two. I do believe in the Red Wings and I know that they Can Win this Cup again I just don't know if they will. I was listening to my local sports radio station on Thursday as I was driving and they were talking about this series and breaking it down and fans were calling in with comments and stuff and I hear that the Conspricay Theory is that the NHL is going to help the Pens get the Cup this season becasue Crosby is the Face of the league and all and I guess I've let that kind of stuff get to me. As much as I try to stay focused and only worry about what is happeing I tend to think about thigs not only the future but of a possible future either way and I get nervous than I get really happy and then the reality sits in that this series is probably far from over. I personally want the Wings to Sweep the Pens and not give them any life in this series and I know that's not going to happen; I mean I don't know for sure but I know the Penguins are a good team and I fear their hunger for the Cup this season after last season and it scares me. I've always said I'm a confident but not cocky guy and I am Confident that the Detroit Red Wings Can Win the Stanley Cup but I'm not ready to start plannying a party yet or anything. It makes me mad to think about something like the League picking favorite Teams and Players when it's the League they should be happy for whoever wins and not try to give them the edge in a game or seires just the help them profit. I hope that is not what is going on and I hope I'm just being ridiculous. Having back to back Champs hasn't happened for 11 years and the last team to do it was indeed the Detroit Red Wings as we all know and to have it happen again would just make me so happy I can't even expalin right now. I will say and I'm not ashamed to say this but last year when Detroit Won The Cup I cried tears of joy and relief for about 20 minutes or more becasue all that pressure that I put on myself even though I can't do anything about what happens no matter what I still put that pressure on myself. Being this close I want to taste it one more time and I want it for Hossa and I want it for all the younger kids that have stepped up and played so well in theses playoffs. It kills me to not know what is going to happen and it kills me to not be able to have power over this and at times it's very unbareable and other times I think not matter what it's not going to be the end of the world and there will be a next year, I just want it agan this year and then I feel like I'd be able to let it go for a while. Sorry for going on and on but I'm still so very nervous but I have my hopes and confidence in this Detroit Red Wings team. Let's Go Detroit Red Wings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest lnvincible Report post Posted June 1, 2009 Kind of my hunch as well. If we go back to the Joe up 3-1, this time they're going to make sure it doesn't even get to overtime. Guess who put us in overtime before? *hint*
Mike 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I'm not too nervous. The Wings are a great road team and their game seems to become simplified while on the road. I think the Wings split, come home and close it out in 5.
SuperNovaXll 124 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 Im still pretty nervous. I dont believe a series really starts untill both teams play at least one game at home. We havent played our best hockey and we have gotten the lucky bounces. I just hope that continues for the rest of the series. When Datsyuk comes back I think that will be a huge boost though. C20lw 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I am confident we will win at least 1 game in Pitt. Won't be an easy win by any means, but still. We are playing really well right now. Effectively shutting down the 2 sallys and helping out as much as we can in front of the net. Ozzie is stopping everything he possibly can, and for the akward rebounds I think we are doing great in gettin the puck away from the net. Pengs are going to bring it hard on Tuesday, if we can get a goal early and frustrate them a bit we have a great chance of taking this. Weve held them to a goal each game while Helm kills 25sec of a penalty single handedly. We can beat them. Just have to watch the turnovers at the blue line/neutral zone and keep playing smart. Theophany 110 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 I'm confident. Worst comes to worst, we win game 5 and game 7 at home. I just don't know if my heart can take that. You also have to figure that Dats will be ready by game 7, which is pretty huge.
