Kopecky signs with the Blackhawks

I'm kind of stunned at this reaction to this. Almost universal contempt for Kopecky. You know what us Hawks' fans are saying? "Good signing!" "Adds a more physical edge." "Upgrade over Pahlsson, that's for sure."

Thanks for the other perspective.

Jesus murphy, tell them NOOOO! Pahlsson is 10x the player Kopecky is, where did the positive perception of Koko come from?

If by physical edge you mean getting his face broken, then yes, you're right.

What is the "Official Kool-Aid Flavour of the Fans of the Chicago Blackhawks"?

Have you Hawks fans actually ever seen Kopecky play? I'd stick to being happy with signing Hossa, don't get too excited about his squire.

Busy day for the Hawks today!! I guess they are making a serious run at the Cup in 2010. :D

Kopecky actually makes your team worse in depth (than you already had), and Hossa's not an upgrade over Havlet in the playoffs. Plus you guys just let go whatever little hope you had when letting Bulin' get away.

There's only been 2 players I've ever trashed that have been Red Wings and Kopecky is one of them. I don't see anything in him in any facet to get excited over.

He did nothing in my eyes to get over 2x what he made last year, imo.

Out of curiosity, what do the Hawk fans see in him to be excited about?

I would put Pahlsson way ahead of Kopecky in all seriousness.

Oh my dear god, poor Chicago fans....

KOPECKY>PAHLSSON???!?!?!??!?

WTF!?

You guys got Hossa which is an upgrade, and that deserves a lot of happiness, so celebrate that... rather then Kopecky. Trust me, within a month into the season Kopecky will be your message board's favorite whipping boy.

Anyone else catch on TSN when Pierre said "Kopecky is going to be a useful player as well" there was an awkward silence followed by a single "yeh..."

Was great

Maguire on the Hawks/Hossa signing "the balance of power in the West has shifted to the Hawks"

On the Hawks/Kopecky signing "looks like the power shifted back to Detroit".

That was the first ever post that actually made me litearlly LOL.

Hawks fans being the idiots that they are got excited just because they got someone from the Wings.

They didn't even bother doing any research before their excitement. Apparently they like to play with our s***. Literally.

Hawks fans also think their GM can land Havlet and Heatly to have a 3H line in Heatly-Havlet-Hossa

you need to give me the name and address of whoever said "upgrade over Pahlsson" so I can go to his house and punch him in the face.

what you got there is Hossa for a $6.4M cap hit. Also for some reason you can now only have 2 guys on your 4th line...

Koko probably plays on Chicago's third line, in a two-way role. I can see him netting 10-15 goals and around 25 points this coming season, maybe a little more. If he gets some time on a higher line, he could post some significant numbers and make a lot of posters on LGW look bad. If he plays Sammy-style time he could put up Sammy style numbers for the same kind of money...plus he's similar defensively and much better physically. Koko also can play all three forward positions, while Sammy can't.

Kopecky is useless, but I'm kind of angry that we lost both Kopecky and Hossa (they have the same agent, don't they?) for nothing to a division rival that was already pretty good.

We better do something, I don't want to hear people say "we won the Cup with this team two years ago" because after we won all the other teams got a lot better. You can't just stand pat completely. We have our core but we need to be adding some people and getting things in return when we lose players.

I'd agree if there wasn't a salary cap. But we don't exactly have a pile of options right now. I'm sure we'll be fine. There's really no other way to look at it...besides negativity. I don't see this being an exciting off season for us.

Wings fans, I don't think you need to worry about your offseason. I mean, you did do it without Hossa. BUT, it's not Hossa's fault you lost either. There are no guarantees in sports. Hopefully we'll win it next year, maybe you guys will. Maybe neither the Wings or Hawks will win. The game is played on ice, not paper. But if both of the Hawks and Wings look good on ice like they do on paper, I think both will be top 5 teams next year in the league.
