Team Canada's 2010 Jerseys Leaked

Not as good as the blood red third jersey the Canadian junior team wore last year (which I coincidentally just bought, because it's a beautiful jersey). Not bad I guess, but I don't like the patches near the elbows.

'Oh Cana - {checks passport} - Oh say can you see' ;)

Sweet sweaters!...If us Yanks are outta medal contention I'm always gonna root for our northern neighbors/neighbours.

Canadian spelling is always appreciated my friend

Not bad. Now, why on earth can't you use the federation's crest? That sounds at least as absurd as those horrible vertical stripes on the socks.

From TSN :

The IOC regulation forbids sport federations from displaying their logos on uniforms at the Olympics, which includes Hockey Canada's trademark Maple Leaf with a hockey player. Hockey Canada says it has been able to get around the rule in the past by having the Canadian Olympic Committee sign an exemption from Games uniform regulations.

But the COC says times have changed. The IOC strictly enforced its rules at the recent Beijing Games - notably with the Brazilian and Argentine soccer teams - and is expected to do the same in Vancouver.

I like 'em. They're simple, and they look more traditional with only the two colors (arm patches notwithstanding), but have a bit of a modern touch with the pattern inside the maple leaf. That's an international jersey I would consider buying.

Glad to see that Nike didn't Oregon-ize these jerseys...

I'm hoping the USA's jerseys are simple & classy too. But I'm not holding my breath...

I like those but I'll be DAMNED as a red blooded American if I'd ever get caught wearing one. The Olympics are the one time I become a national chauvanist. The hell with the rest of the world. After watching Brian Williams all those years almost fall down laughing when a USA athlete didn't win a medal I've kinda sorta built up a healthy dislike of some in the Canadian Olympic story. The Canadian women making up crap about the USA gals using a Canadian jersey as a footmat really po'd me. Don Cherry helping sell it made me mad. The loonie buried in OUR ice in Salt Lake City tells me what little smarmy weasels some Canadians can be.

Before you hop on me I come from Canadian lineage. My grandfather was in the RCMP in the 1910's-1920's in Regina. He was a real Dudley Do-Right.

I cheer for USA hockey, I AM AN AMERICAN!!!

When this story broke, the IOC claimed that this rule/regulation had been on the books, but they let it slide for a few years. Whether one country complained, reminding the IOC of the rule/regulation, getting the wheels moving...who knows.

In the end, two things it comes down to:

1) It's just the IOC flexing it's muscles and making sure everyone bides by it's code and

2) It's good for selling new merchandise.

Or why not this on the front?

Don't get you started? Well I did.

 I picked that USA sweater because that's the one they wore for the miracle on ice series, so I figured it had enough historic clout to be a good choice. Plus it's a pretty classic looking hockey sweater. Nothing too fancy, just a jersey with some history.
