RusDRW 155 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) Here NY Post. I would say excellent pick-up for that amount of money. I'm upset that we signed Williams instead. Edited August 16, 2009 by RusDRW
digitaljohn88 4 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) That signing makes the Williams signing look like ASS. but... it's possible Prospal wasn't interested in the Wings. Edited August 16, 2009 by digitaljohn88

servo 15 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Considering how the NYR usually pay 1.5-2.5 times fair market value for a player, this carries an unbelievable price tag. I too would rather have Vinne than JW, however, I'm sure the Wings front office innitiated a discussion.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Lol. We're paying Williams more than Prospal. I knew I'd feel even worse once I saw the other free agents sign for dirt cheap.
Mors 201 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 This does somewhat negate the "Williams is a good deal at $1.5 million" argument.

ManLuv4Clears 7 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 This does somewhat negate the "Williams is a good deal at $1.5 million" argument. It does, I just puked in my mouth, first time since I read about the JW signing.
xBrave_Heartx 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Prospal is 34.. he has attitude problems.. he isn't a game breaker.. he isn't anything special. Atleast you know what your getting out of Williams, Prospal it changes every game. Williams > Prospal

Atleast you know what your getting out of Prospal, Williams it changes every game. /fixed Seriously, what you said could apply so easily to Williams that I couldn't resist pointing it out. Williams is known for attitude problems, inconsistency, and being a huge ***** who disappears in the playoffs.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Good for NYR, they need some offense that isn't disgustingly overpaid.
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 as someone else said.... I just puked in my mouth a little... the fact that he was signed for so cheap and that we didn't get him disgusts me... I never question Holland, but this is the first time I am seriously disappointed in him...

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Holland's offseason continues to look worse and worse. At this point it can't get any lower, unless he trades Lidstrom overseas for Aki Berg.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Holland can't put a gun to someone's head and force them to sign for the Wings. Maybe Prospal just didn't want to play for the Wings? Maybe he wants to be on a team where he's guaranteed to be in the top 6 and on the PP.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Lol. We're paying Williams more than Prospal. I knew I'd feel even worse once I saw the other free agents sign for dirt cheap. OMFG THE TEAM ISN'T GOING TO BE ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. WE COULD HAVE HAD SLIGHTLY BTETER SECONDARY SCORING. OMFG SCREW HOLLAND HE'S A MORON AND WE'RE SCREWED, WE'RE GOING TO GET CRUSHED AND HAVE A TERRIBLE SEASON. In other words: Stop being such micromanagement maniacs. topshelf14 1 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 This is very upsetting. To sign Williams for 1.5 and then see Prospal go for less is ridiculous. I said it from the start of this offseason, Holland should stand pat and play the kids from GR. And at trade deadline time use that money on an unwanted superstar. JUST SMILE AND NOD YOUR HEAD. In other words: You can't seriously blame people for having a bit of a gripe that we signed Williams for more than what Prospal went for and then speaking about it. It's frustrating to say the least. Furthermore, this is a place for differentiating opinions, its what makes it all fun. People are going nuts about the spot that Williams now occupies, acting as if it is of utterly vital importance, acting as if Holland is an imbecile for not making the 'correct' choice, and, of course, as always, implying that they know better than Holland does. Whatever.
CenterIce 83 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 There is a possibility that he signed so cheap for the Rangers because John Tortorella was his coach with Tampa Bay. He knows what will be expected of him.

People are going nuts about the spot that Williams now occupies, acting as if it is of utterly vital importance, acting as if Holland is an imbecile for not making the 'correct' choice, and, of course, as always, implying that they know better than Holland does. Whatever. I think you're implying too much. Although people have said he they've been "disappointed" with his decisions this off season, I don't think anyone went to the extreme of calling him an imbecile. You also have to gather the situation. We had very very little cap space to begin with, so you'd think (if he was willing to have even LESS space at the deadline) Holland would sign a solid offensive forward that most could agree with. There were still a few on the market. Instead, we practically kill our deadline player hunt and overpay to sign a risky, streaky, attitude-filled player for our one big summer signing. I'm sorry to disagree, but I tend to think that signing was VERY important and might come back to bite us in the ass.
