redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 This is a bit of a head scratcher but when he wasn't being lazy or stupid last year he was fairly productive so it could work if he cuts down on the bad penalties and laziness. He was a victim of the system. Look at the last two teams he played for, he will be better on the wings for sure and if he plays lazy or stupid he wont play and babs will be all over him
Guest E_S_A_D Report post Posted August 18, 2009 I like it, he's still just 34- not too old, the guy can throw the fists when needed. Basically we traded Kopecky for him on the 3rd line, love this signing. I approve.
GONGSHOW HOCKEY 35 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Yeah, because I heard Toronto was giving him away for nothing. Damn it Kenny. Kenny would have obviously have had to give something up, but thats the price you gotta pay to get a stud in return. Toronto needs to move a defensemen before the season starts so I'm sure that Burke would listen to all offers if they're reasonable. Maybe a 1st rounder, and Zetterberg/Leino for Schenn and Garbovski. That trade would really improve the depth on our team and would keep us in the cup hunt for years to come. cjm502 165 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Are you Luke Schenn by any chance? Im a pretty big Schenn fan, but damn. He is in the NHL for his physical play, not mind blowing defense.
mmamolo 287 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Bertuzzi's role will be different here than it was in Calgary. If he takes bad penalties and is lazy his ice time gets cut down big time. He wont be depended on to score as much here either compared to his time in Calgary. I think thats the type of situation where guys tend to be able to put up better numbres. He'll be playing against the other teams 3rd line and will have better guys on his line to play with. Here's Detroit's Cap Situation with Lilja in the line up: Detroit Red Wings

Dude, Schenn will be a Leaf for life, and Zetterberg will be a Wing, if either is brought up in trade discussion, the phone will be hung up right away. The Mule 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Dude, what are you smoking? Do you know what you are talking about? Lets trade out future captain for a defenseman fighting for a spot in the NHL, yeah! Not to take away from the pure idiocy of the post you were quoting, but in no way, shape, or form is Luke Schenn "fighting for a spot in the NHL."
mmamolo 287 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Not to take away from the pure idiocy of the post you were quoting, but in no way, shape, or form is Luke Schenn "fighting for a spot in the NHL." Agreed, Schenn plays every game he is healthy for with the Leafs this year. He'd probably even be in their top four. The other guy who suggested that trade is either joking and trying to rile everyone up or he is 11 years old and playing NHL 09 too much
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Who would you rather have...Bertuzzi or Prospal? Close, but I say Bertuzzi. After we lost all our guys to FA, he was my first choice for the team. Seems to be a perfect fit.

GONGSHOW HOCKEY 35 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Dude, what are you smoking? Do you know what you are talking about? Lets trade out future captain for a defenseman fighting for a spot in the NHL, yeah! Fighting for a spot in the NFL? Dude, what are you smoking? Schenn played last year in the NHL at 19 years old and was on the Leafs top D pair. This kid has a much higher ceiling than Zetterberg has. Could you imagine our D with Kronner, Stuart, Rafalski, Lids, and Schenn... that would be amazing. Our forwards with Garbovski would also be stacked and we would probably lead the league in goals due to the explosiveness that Garbovski would bring to the team. ... And Garbovski doesn't have injury problems like Zetterberg does. Burke might not even accept the trade due to Zetterberg's known back problems.

You know this guy wants a cup BAD Not to take away from the pure idiocy of the post you were quoting, but in no way, shape, or form is Luke Schenn "fighting for a spot in the NHL." this as for the other poster, ZETTERBERG??????? man it seems like you just got into hockey a day ago Burke has stated that he will trade a defenceman, but CLEARLY stated that his name WILL NOT be Schenn. We don't need Kenny to say anything because we know he would never trade Z.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 Grabovski is garbage, he had a decent year last year, but he is nothing special and doesnt play a lick of defence. And how did this discussion become Schenn and Zetterberg? Isnt Bertuzzi the guy we signed?
