IIHF refuses to grant transfer card to Jiri Hudler

Leave us alone Hudler, if you do come back, have fun on another team.

Seriously, the drunken guy who chants "Let's go Red Vings!" and shows the most emotion when he scores goals is fun until he throws up in your bathroom. Then he's just like any other annoying moron.

That is the best comparison I've ever heard

guys relax, the poster who suggested moving stuart was just speculating. Berating people for not knowing there was a NTC is a little childish.

forgive some of us for not memorizing every single detail of the intricacies of all of our player contracts, even ones signed a few years ago.

He brings it upon himself though because he's exactly the kind of poster who's all over a minor detail like that in someone else's post. Like the guy who forgot or didn't know Quincey was traded to Colorado.

For me it is a broken link...and it hasn't been on MLive...

I think it is a lost cause to think anything other then Jiri is a Dynamo Moscower

EDIT: I got the link to work...but I still think he is a Dynamo Moscower

I don't see why this is such a big shock to some ppl here. Right off the bat it seemed unlikely that the IIHF would immediately grant Hudler's transfer card. THat doesn't mean they won't eventually grant it though. I think this sets a precedent though. I think that the NHL/KHL/IIHF need to get on the same page about the NHLs restricted free agents, especially those that file for arbitration. Obviously the NHL feels that when someone files for arbitration that is a contractual commitment to play next season with their respected teams; the KHL disagrees. The IIHF wouldn't grant the transfer card immediately because then they essentially are agreeing with the KHL. But not granting the card right now they're staying pat and not getting in the middle of thigns until it's decided.

Even though the Wings are fine with Hudler leaving and retaining his NHL rights for his potential return that doesn't mean the NHL is ok with him leaving, despite this s***ty situation it puts the Wings in.

Personally, I don't see how Hudler won't end up playing for Dynamo this year but I'm not surprised at all to hear that the IIHF has yet to grant him a card.

Also, if somehow he did return to the Wings I realyl don't think he would be traded. Despite his offensive numbers and potential his value is low at the moment and Holland wouldn't get much in return for him I don't think. Holland also doesn't strike me as the type of GM to just dump a guy for an undervalued return.

It's a realyl s***ty spot the Wings are in regardless of if Hudler returns or not. It puts us over the barrel in signing any UFAs and there is the slightest of chances it could really put us between a rock and a hard place if he is forced to return.

This reminds me to a lesser extent of the moronic college players that hold off for another year and blow out their knee, for more $. So idiotic, he was leaving for cash... and cash only. Now he's without a team to practice or play with. PLEASE MR. KENNY HOLLAND, do NOT allow him back on the Wings. It sets a horrible precedent.

Hudler= least favorite Red Wing- NOW.

Also, interesting to read that old Detroit player from the 80s, one of my favorites, Petr Klima is a player consultant now!

IF he is forced to play in the NHL. The wings would be better off signing him and then trading him to the eastern conference. Trying to get some prospects and picks for him shouldn't be too hard. He shouldn't wear a winged wheel again. Montreal has been picking up small forwards lately.

LOL. I can just immagine a 56 hour "consulting" session featuring McCarty and Klima. that would make some boys in Columbia cery rich, methinks.

I really don't understand why ppl would be willing to dump Hudler at seemingly any cost. I get how soem of you wouldn't want him back but I've read posts where ppl want to waive him, trade him for nothing, just to get rid of him. Sure, he wanted more money but he also wanted a higher spot on the team. I dont necessarily agree that he deserved it but that's what he claims he wanted. Personally I still think he'd be a good re-addition to our team. I think he'd put up some very solid numbers and he'd shore up our 2nd pp unit. For me personally I would welcome him back just as Holland has said he would when his KHL contract was up - hence signing him to a two year deal.

What (s)he said.

If we HAVE to take Huds back, it will put us in cap trouble, but it would be fixable.

Send JWilly down. Someone will take him off waivers or he can be a call-up.

Trade whomever doesn't perform well at camp (unless they have a NTC).

In the end, I think that since this is all new ground for everyone, Holland and the KHL will come up with some sort of "borrowing a player" contract that will allow Huds to play there for 2 years and then come back when we can afford him.

I realyl don't think the Wings woudl sign someone and then toss him on waiver/minors. Even though putting Williams through that would be the best option available at that stage I just dont see it happening.

Either way, Hudler won't be here this season.

If we kept Hudler, we would have to say goodbye to more than just Williams and Lebda/Meech (the elder which may not be such a great idea anyway). In the end, I think it might be better to say goodbye to Hudler.

I believe he can still play for his KHL team without the transfer card. But doesn't this mean he isn't eligible to play for his country in international tournaments like the olympics?

More or less yeah. The KHL won't give a s*** but Hudler will be punished.
