Will Babs start a Swedish 5 in the season opener?

Wonder if Babs will start the game with a Swedish 5 like the old Russian 5?

Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom

Lidstrom - Kronwall

He's normally a pretty classy guy for this kind of thing. He dressed 7 defenceman so Chelios and Lebda could play in the Winter Classic and even started Chelios. He also re-united the Grind Line and started the game with them when McCarty made his comeback.

that'd be pretty cool, but I don't see it happening... I think it'd be different if they were a line on the Olympic team, but their generally split up even there... just them dressing and playing will be all the tribute needed...

I just hope Lilja is at the game, even if in the press box... that's gotta be a real bummer for him that he can't play in these games...

That doesn't sound completely unlikely as a PP formation, and would be awesome to see.

But Babcock probably thinks there are enough swedes as it is so there's no need to bundle them all up together if he doesn't think it would help the team.

Nah, 4pts are on the line, the best lines possible will go on ice no matter what nationality they have :P

If it's just for the sake of playing players in there native country then I would like to see them at least start with a swede line...Keep it mind it is the regular season opener and starting with a win is a must!

It wouldn't be just because they are all from Sweden. Yea it takes power away from the other lines, but those five are dominate. It would be fun to watch them for more then once shift.

I would prefer 4 solid lines personally...

Theres no doubt those 5 players are talented and would be insane together

but they can only be on the ice together for so long

I don't see a problem if they do it for the opening shift.

I doubt he'll do anything differnt then he would do in any regular season game. I would guess he would put whatever lineup he thought was the best matchup out on the ice. This isn't and exhibition game it counts the same as any other and you never know how big those 2 points could be.

It'd be cool to see, but at this point I'd be glad if I got to watch the game, period. Since I don't have Versus anymore, I don't know how that'll be possible.

At least one of the games will be broadcast on CBC, if you set up a Canadian proxy (which isn't difficult) you'll be able to watch the stream on their site.

Well, he did reunite the Grind Line when McCarty came back, that line is pretty ineffective nowadays and it was during a regular season game. And it's not like that lineup is a trainwreck waiting to happen - at worst they chip the puck down the ice at the first chance of possession and switch up the lines.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I have streamed games online before, but never from a Canadian proxy on CBC as far as I can remember.

Hope the country won't mind. :D
