2. Tie Domi

3. Behn Wilson

4. Ed Belfour

5. Wayne Gretzky

No, that's not a typo at number 1. :) I just always loved the way he played the game, and he was a player I always liked when I was younger (and more mature).

At one time, I would have included Modano and Kariya on that list. They worked their way off my list over the years.

Also, even though their prime was before my time, I've seen enough tapes on Lafleur and Gretzky to know what I like about them.

Domi was a guy I've come to appreciate more and more after his retirement, for how great a fighter he was despite his size. His height never really mattered even though he was fighting against guys almost a foot taller than him.

1) John LeClair

2) Scott Stevens

3) Martin Brodeur

4) Mikael Renberg

5) Esa Tikkanen

This was a tough list but I always wished LeClair to be a Red Wing :)

I always found him overrated... It seemed like the puck just came to him as he slammed home rebounds and some of the sloppiest goals ever, but hey, ugly ones count too.

No order:

Cam Neely

Dave Semenko

Gary Sutter

Mario Lemieux

Dave Brown

Tim Kerr

That's 6, because Semenko and Brown together really only add up to one hockey player.

I'm often misunderstood around here.

Never cared for Ray (cheater) or Hunter (cheap SOB). McSorley was a great fighter, but not one of my favorites.

There are a lot of players I respect for their contributions to the game or their skill, Gretzky, Lemieux, Sakic, Broduer and even Sid the Kid...then there are a few players I think are really great charater guys, or guys I've personally met that were cool like Modano, Tkachuck, David Moss...I like goalies but most of the current crop are either streaky or not all that exciting to watch, I miss the athletic saves, the butterfly although incredibly effective is not near as fun to watch. Alex Ovechkin would be the only player I can truly say that I am a fan of who isn't currently or hasn't been a Red Wing. Seeing him again live on Saturday night, as much as the homer in me would like to think that Datsyuk or Zetterberg are every bit as good as AO he really is on another level offensively.
