stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 Purely on a hypothetical basis - fast forward to the end of trade deadline day. Make your prediction here and now who will be wearing the Winged wheel at seasons end that is not right now. My prediction - Kari Lehtonen
Carman 387 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) Ilya Kovalchuk. In the real world I'd guess maybe Alex Tanguay. I'd hope to add a 5-6th D, but I don't see the Wing's doing that unless we get another big injury on D. And a goalie isn't going to happen unless it's a 1-2 year left veteran. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 A 3rd pairing defensman that none of us will think of from a team needing offense and speed. We'll trade Lebda and some no-name prospect.
RusDRW 155 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 Shane O'Brien or Brian Allen for Lebda+. And we'll be unbeatable in play-offs

taxijim 11 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 Derek Dorsett....Helm's old buddy from CBJ.....he would certainly add some grit to this lineup & would be a good choice for future years.

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) yeah wings fans would love lehtonen until he gets injured for the hundredth time for an expiring contract with the mindset that he's being brought on as a back-up and if he steals Osgood's job, then that just means he outplayed him - yea I'm on board with that... If he ends up working and we can keep him here on a discount after that too... that's a gamble I'm willing to take while McCollum develops (for the record, I don't see Howard being here by next years start) oh... and he won't be expected to play 70 games in a season here, if he does stay... theman19 47 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 If we make a trade at the deadline it's cause we're in a better position than we are in now. If we start to slip again i can totally see holland trading for some help on D or a better back up Biron's name has been batted around quite a bit.

I've been saying that since the beginning of the season as he is really one of the only viable options. But, like you, I also think we need help at D more than with our forwards. sureWhyNot 19 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 Lehtonen=Disaster. If we were going to go this route, we mine as well package Toskala too. I would rather take our chances with either of the guys from GR then Lehtonen.
newfy 695 Report post Posted November 2, 2009 I see a solid stay at home defenseman known for the rough stuff and blocking shots getting added to replace lilja. I hope for a Matt Walker type in exchange for maybe Lebda and a pick or something along those lines.
