Pucks 66 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Exactly. I'm no Osgood apologist, but when the puck is on Datsyuk's stick, you're not expecting a shot coming at you a second later. But cmon it's his job to expect the puck could come at him at any time. They was a retarted play out front, but Osgood was not ready. We can't score, but when we do they screw us. We play medioccre defense and we can't get a stop for our lives. Can't take this s*** again tonight.

RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Is it just me or did that first period really piss everyone else off too? unless there's a Calgary fan in here.... yes. Seems like night in and night out we're the better team and wind up trailing due to the dumbest of plays.

Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 A good goalie is ready for one anyways. He looks like he has the worst five-hole in hockey. But cmon it's his job to expect the puck could come at him at any time. They was a retarted play out front, but Osgood was not ready. We can't score, but when we do they screw us. If your best friend walks up to you .. would you expect him to punch you in the face? if he did would it be YOUR fault? Weird night all together.... would of happened to Howard too.. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 It was a weird play, but he was in position just not concentrating. He left his five hole wide open and his stick was in the air. It was a lack of focus. When a team is struggling NHL goaltenders have to make those kind of saves if the team is going to win. watch the replay. He's tracking the puck the whole time and getting ready to move side to side. If he had gone down, he would've taken himself out of the position if the puck made it to the Flames player on the right side. I can see faulting him for a weak 5 hole, but it's not like he zoned out. He's keyed into the puck the whole time and is in a position to make a quick move. He clearly wasn't expecting a shot of Datsyuk's stick. either way, Osgood has not been strong, but that's one of many problems the team is having right now. hokike 1 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 It is easy demand in front of TV "baili 'em out, goalie". In reality, goalies don't save struggling teams. It happens, but rarely.

commadore183 103 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 It should be, at best, 1-1 after the first, but it's 0-2 after 1 period. If the luck isn't there, the refs are there to snuff out any wisp of it, it seems Goal scorers were Lundmark (Jokinen & Iginla) and Dawes (Moss). That was a period to forget. Hopefully the 2nd and 4rd are lightyears better than that.

Weird night all together.... would of happened to Howard too.. If my sole job in life was to take punches to the face, and my friend was roughing it up with a group of punks two millimeters from me, I'd be ready for a punch, regardless of where it came from. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 I think we need to drift to the anahiem system and play Datsyuk and Zetterberg 25+ minutes a night...oh...and TOGETHER. At least we'll score some goals...f***. Uhhh... Anaheim isn't doing any better than we are. Anyway, something is wrong with Datsyuk and I'm not sure pairing him up with Z is going to magically fix it. He seems to have almost forgotten the last couple of years. Doesn't look like he has the confidence to just take the puck to the net himself, he always tries fancy passes. And those passes are finding their target less often. Really starting to worry me. Carman 387 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 If your best friend walks up to you .. would you expect him to punch you in the face? if he did would it be YOUR fault? Weird night all together.... would of happened to Howard too.. Oh don't make excuses for Osgood. That was a bad goal due to lack of focus. He will be the first one to tell you that. If a puck is loose in front of the net and you don't have your five hole covered you aren't playing well. Osgood has not been covering his five hole all season this is just another example of his positioning breaking down. He would of had that in the playoffs no problem. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Everything that can possibly go wrong is doing that this season. What the hell. Ericsson makes a great play to break up the 2-on-1 and somehow the puck still goes in. We score and for some reason it's not allowed. Datsyuk needs to get going, bad. Zetterberg can't carry this team alone. I feel for Ericsson and the rest of the guys on the ice after that goal. E makes a great play to nullify the 2-on-1 like you said, then Datsyuk knocks the puck right into the net. Seeing the replay with Dats losing control of that puck and having it go in the net was painful.

Aren't you going to chime in with your beachball pic? It was a weird ass play. I would've loved for Ozzy to make that save, but it's not one I'd point to as evidence of what's wrong with this team or his play in particular. (Because I do think he has not been as good as the team needs him to be right now). They need some key players to step up and help right this ship. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Osgood. sureWhyNot 19 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Is it just me or did that first period really piss everyone else off too? Not just you. I was at the Atlanta game earlier this week and it's getting to the point where its hard to watch. Sure they out-shoot their opponents, but the problem is they take an obscene amount of low percentage shots that more or less do nothing other then fade the opposing goalies logo on the front of his jersey. Goaltending is atrocious - yes Ozzie and Howard have played well at points throughout the season, but for the most part it has been brutal. Defense is worse then anything we have seen in a while. (Erikkson and Lebda both -4) Special teams are dismal. Besides Zetterberg, none of our primary or secondary point producers are producing.
