Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted December 16, 2009 wouldn't he have to go through waivers? he'd probably be picked up by another team if so
Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Question is.. would Leino accept being sent down to GR? I'm pretty sure he will head back home to finland if that were to happen.. in the end of his GR time he was deadly fed up with it and he probably think he shouldn't be playing another AHL gameThe question is: do we want to lose someone if we don't have to? Leino would definitely be claimed by some other team. Send May down and that doesn't happen.
Datsasuk 2 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 First off, Holland is an amazing GM. His brilliance to find players such as Eaves, Miller and Newbury. I am so happy with Eaves and Miller. I think if nothing else, Wings/Holland may have just re-sparked their respective careers. Hopefully they can stay in Detroit. That said, when players start to come back we're going to (eventually) need to move some guys. Who do we move? Role players coming back: Franzen Williams Filppula Cleary This is a great problem to have but I really want to see Miller and Eaves here for awhile. Players like May and Newbury can go as I feel solid PKer's and defensive minded players who can put the puck in net should stay. That'd help relieve a lot of pressure off Pasha and Hank on the PK. And Eaves has really found his groove here. Miller has been absolutely solid without even a hiccup. Then again, Eaves and Miller might have (mid to late round) trade value. What are your thoughts? I really don't think Franzen is going anywhere. I've heard that we're interested in Halak, which makes sense. So maybe there will be some kind of package deal in order to get Halak. We'll probably have to give up atleast one decent roster player for Halak.

13dangledangle 968 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 The only thing I want to see for sure is Bertuzzi and Franzen on the same line. They have the potential to absolutely dominate. I was thinking the same thing! Holmer-Dats-Z Bert-Flip-Franzen Cleary-Helm-Eaves miller-Drapes-Williams/Malts/may
Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) I was thinking the same thing! Holmer-Dats-Z Bert-Flip-Franzen Cleary-Helm-Eaves miller-Drapes-Williams/Malts/may Bert-Zetter-Franzen (the power line) Cleary-Dats-Holmer (one unbelievable skilled playmaker and 2 crashers) Miller-Flip-Willy / Leino (this is as good as most 2nd lines around the league) Drapes-Helm-Eaves (pure energy and speed with that can score; would be a 3rd line on any other team) Edited December 16, 2009 by Miller Brew
Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Bert-Zetter-Franzen (the power line) Cleary-Dats-Holmer (one unbelievable skilled playmaker and 2 crashers) Miller-Flip-Willy / Leino (this is as good as most 2nd lines around the league) Drapes-Helm-Eaves (pure energy and speed with that can score; would be a 3rd line on any other team) IMO Datsyuk has to have a skilled scorer on the wing. There are two realistic options: Franzen and Zetterberg. Cleary will never be that guy. Bertuzzi or Leino can be alternative choices if their game really improve. I've always made it a strict rule for myself to never put Cleary and Homer on the same line but if Homer's role is to be the shooter on that line then I guess it's not so bad. I have a feeling I'm in the minority on this one but I actually think Homer has a better shot than Cleary. At the same time, I think it's best if the Helm-Eaves pairing gets third line minutes. I really like what they do out there.

Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Miller-Flip-Willy / Leino (this is as good as most 2nd lines around the league) I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I think you're letting your homerism blind you a little on this point. I challenge you to find me a 2nd line from more than 1 or 2 teams that this line would stack up against.

I challenge you to find me a 2nd line from more than 1 or 2 teams that this line would stack up against. Williams, Flip and Leino had great chemistry together (as Babcock praised this line as the "best" on the team before injuries). I do have high hopes for Miller. So I'll give ya that, my homerism is hoping to see Miller play like a 2nd line winger.

Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted December 16, 2009 time for some Jake Ryan lines Helm - Datsyuk - Miller Zetterberg - Filppula - May Draper - Leino - Cleary Williams - Eaves - Franzen
dropkickshanahans 463 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary Leino-Filppula-Williams Miller/Draper-Helm-Eaves Maltby/Meech reserved. Only thing I'm struggling with is how much Holland and Babcock think May is effective working in our lineups some nights for certain matchups. If they think his presence and fighting ability is benefitting our players from not being pushed around, then I guess I see Miller leaving.
rage 24 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Maltby over Miller just because. It totally would not suprise me.
cupforwings 138 Report post Posted December 17, 2009 I was thinking the same thing! Holmer-Dats-Z Bert-Flip-Franzen Cleary-Helm-Eaves miller-Drapes-Williams/Malts/may They are not going to put Dats and Z together... It is pointless, and they have showed us, once again, that it would be pointless... Hank and Z do not produce enough together to waist having 2 great centers on one line... They way they have been playing split up has been much more effective. Bert-Zetterberg-Cleary Homer-Datsyuk-Franzen Leino-Filppula-Williams Draper-Helm-Eaves/miller/may/matlby that is a top 3 lineup with the best 4th line in the league, hands down

Clueless... Why give helm 2nd line center minutes when he can't finish or pass very good? Why filppula as you 3rd center? Why give kronwall teams 2nd best defenseman 3rd Dpair minutes? Why give turnovermachine-ericsson 1stpair minutes? Edited December 17, 2009 by mindfly

Broken 16 381 Report post Posted December 17, 2009 Get rid of Leino and keep Miller and Eaves. Those guys actually battle. I'd give Leino another shot with Flip before I'd send him out on a rail.
