FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 You guys are ridiculous. Who the hell cares about his nickname. Anyways, he'll probably sign a 1 or 2 year deal, and I'm sure his cap hit will be between 1.5-2 million.
Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) That's from Wikipedia, so it CAN'T be wrong! lol Wikipedia? Lol are you serious? You're trying to pass off the source that had Osgood's name as "Osbad" edited in it at one point. Some of you are really stretching it Oh wait, maybe my sarcasm meter isn't working. Are you being sarcastic? Okay, now I see what you did there Lol... You just edited it to be a funny guy. Very clever! Lol. gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Let's see how he does down the stretch. I've always loved Holmstrom and he's played well this year, but he has played relatively well in the beginning of the year the last few years only to finish slow and be non-existent in the playoffs. If he stays healthy down the stretch and continues to contribute, I'd certainly think it'd be good to bring him back. But I think this is a summer decision for Ken but even more so for Holmstrom. If they win the Cup this year, he might want to go out on top especially if his body isn't all there. I don't imagine he'll sign anything more than 1-year deals from here on out though if he signs any more at all, and I'd guess that they'd ring up at around $1.5-2 million/season. Any way it goes though, enjoy this guy while he's around and doing well. He's been one of the most fun guys to have around for awhile now and he's definitely on the tail end of his career. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) How about we let a poll decide? So this thread can return to being about re-signing Holmstrom. Edited January 6, 2010 by haroldsnepsts
e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Let's make it easy on everyone and just start calling him Tom, you know, the shortened version of Tomas. ...of course that's pronounced like TOME (a large scholarly book) Pronunciation: \ˈtÅm\ not Tom - a common name. Pronunciation: \ˈtäm\ ON TOPIC: While he is having a quality year and is *fingers-crossed* staying healthy, with age and durability issues I do not think he is worth more than a 1 year - $1.25 Million. Tops. Edited January 6, 2010 by e_prime
Guest zackmorris Report post Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) WHO CARES HOW YOU SPELL HIS NICKNAME Jesus...anyway, I think we shoudl resign him. No more than 2 years and if it's 2, sign him for no more than 3.7 mil. Yeah he's leading in scoring now but we aren't a team like most others where players in his situation leverage s*** like that. He's 37, he's a career Wing, he's made his ton of cash and he should look to help out and have some foresight. He's getting older and a drop off is coming. 1.85 per year is fair considering all we've done for him and his lack of defensive play. If it's 1 year, give him 2.1 mil or so. I don't think any of us can guess this too well though as his contract probably hinges on the contracts of other players on this team who are up for getting new deals. Namely Lids and a few role players. Edited January 6, 2010 by zackmorris

Some of you are really stretching it Oh wait, maybe my sarcasm meter isn't working. Are you being sarcastic? Okay, now I see what you did there Lol... You just edited it to be a funny guy. Very clever! Lol. Actually, Osbad is a legitimate nickname for Osgood. I mean, Pens fans use it, so it must be officially licensed and trademarked by the NHL, right? Thus legitimate. Osisuckduringtheregularseason just doesn't have the same ring to it. Also, I had multiple sources, you just didn't understand the difference between an NHL writer that does not work for the Red Wings and a promotional article written by and released by Red Wings staff. That and Holmer makes no sense since everyone calls him "Homer".

wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 I really wish Holmer would have scored a hat trick tonight You are successfully derailing your own thread Homer will most likely be back, I'd say at about half the amount he's making now.
Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 You are successfully derailing your own thread Homer will most likely be back, I'd say at about half the amount he's making now. Not really this is a thread about Holmer and if he resigns. So far the consensus is Holmer will resign for $2 million for a 1 year deal. I hope Holland can get Holmer to stay for less than $2 million, more like $1.95.. but since Holmer is a 20-30 goal scorer and a one man demolition crew, it's hard to say what he takes. But Holland needs to resign Holmer! He's an integral part of this team.
Zetts 236 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Oh for...everyone just call him Holmstrom and shut up about it. Or perhaps this is when a new LGW nickname should be born that everyone acknowledges is wrong, but uses to avoid arguments. Anyways, I say 2 million. Maybe a little over, to around 2.3 or so. He's proven he can still play. Anywhere in that range (or if he's feeling particularly generous, lower) would be great. Oh wait, what are the chances of Jake Ryan visiting this thread? If he does, just for his sake, I change my answer to $6 million. (Just kidding Jake! )

Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 You're a Holmer! My wife wishes I was Holmer because she thinks he's HAWT. Plus, I wouldn't mind earning $2 million per year while drinking from the cup and partying with the entire team. I should get me a Holmer jersey if he resigns
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 I do not want Homer to resign. I want him to finish the season and re-sign with the Wings. I think he'll be signing one year contracts from here on out. I'm thinking the next one he signs will be just shy of $2m, and will go down from there as he re-signs. How many injuries he has will dictate how many more years he re-signs. If he resigns, I will sigh; if he re-signs, I will sing.

mmamolo 287 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 I think he'll be back but I also think his price tag could have a lot to do with what happens with Lidstrom. If Nick returns at a discounted rate I could see Holmstrom following suit. It will be tough for any Wing looking for a new contract with the team to demand too much if Nick takes a big pay cut.
