Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) These head shots are ridiculous. Edit: perhaps you are correct and it was shoulder to shoulder. Edited February 9, 2010 by Echolalia
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 It was a shoulder to shoulder hit. Clean, unfortunate result.
dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) The replay at the 32-36 second mark looks like it was shoulder then head contact. Then the one starting at 41 seconds looks different but I dont think it was a late hit like the announcer claims. These players need to stop lowering their heads down and stand up a little straighter. To me it look like that would of been shoulder to shoulder if the player did not bend down a little. EDIT: Also a a blindside hit IMHO Edited February 9, 2010 by dragonballgtz

That's what it is. I was thinking that he couldn't have gotten knocked out from the actual hit.
dobbles 252 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 yeah, as keith jones notes, he was out before he even hit the ice. the hit does seem to be to the shoulder which is good, but these late hits have to stop. i know people like to take the manly position of 'well he should have had his head up' but in so many cases the hits are coming from weird angles and get there pretty darned late. i know the game is fast and its hard to time things perfect, but thats why you can't be going 110% towards guys like that. everyone has questionable hits, but i think if you look on average at the big hits from 10 or 20 years ago, most of them the player still had the puck. you take a hit like this where the puck was in the net or last year in the playoffs on hudler where the pass was long gone. Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 While the contact of the hit itself was clean shoulder to (mostly) shoulder, it was a blindside hit, about which a number of NHL GMs and others have voiced their displeasure.
