rwfan007 18 Report post Posted July 31, 2010 un-freeking-believable. no one other than the relief lost the game today. Everyone else looked like they played really well, but the relief lost that one themselves.
Glubki 17 Report post Posted August 1, 2010 Yeah - Coke and Perry both looked out of sync. Gotta hand it to the Red Sox though; they don't give up.

cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted August 8, 2010 New drinking game: every time you see a fielder wearing his sunglasses on top of his cap. The players must figure it's more important to make sure people see the advertiser's logo on the 'glasses than put them to good use.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted August 8, 2010 From New York Times : ...It took almost 50 years, and there was no interest added. But a promise is a promise, and Jim Gentile finally got his $5,000 bonus from the Baltimore Orioles. ... What shocks me about this story is that this error was corrected in The Baseball Encyclopedia ®...in their 1996 edition, with the error being discovered by a member of SABR in 1993! Looks like Elias is right on top of things!
Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted August 14, 2010 So, after moving to the Dallas area (from another town in Texas), I kind of adopted the Rangers as my favorite team. Now, I already have a true favorite team, but they stink on ice this year, so it's been fun to follow the Rangers throughout their season. I've been to a couple of games this year, and had an incredible stroke of luck tonight. I was at the Rangers/Red Sox game tonight. Got to see the Rangers give up 7 runs in the 4th, to end up trailing 8-2 after the top of the fourth. So I'm thinking "crap, did I pick the wrong game to go to". Never being the fair-weather fan who leaves before the game is over (ESPECIALLY after just the 4th inning), we stuck it out. And damn if we weren't rewarded for it, as the Rangers battled back for an extra innings walk off home run to cap a 10-9 comeback win.. This was easily the most fun non-hockey game I've ever been to. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 Sigh. Johnny Damon was told Monday by the Detroit Tigers that he had been claimed on waivers by the Boston Red Sox, but the outfielder said he was mulling over the move.Damon, 36, has until Wednesday afternoon to decide whether he will go to the Red Sox, for whom he played from 2002 to 2005. Damon has a partial no-trade clause in his contract and Boston, where there were hard feelings by fans after he bolted for the New York Yankees, is one of the clubs he can veto. Travis 576 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 Sigh. Yeah, what's up with this? I'm not too familiar with the waivers system after the trade deadline in the MLB. Inge has been placed on waivers, too, and could be traded. Damon has a no-trade clause and one of the teams on his 'no-trade list' is Boston. Tigers.com says he wants to stay in Detroit, but what happens if he options his ntc? Is he definitely staying here, or can the Sox still somehow get him? Vladifan 680 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 Sigh. What the hell is up with this? WHY would the Tigers put him on waivers in the first place? He's one of my faves.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 After last nights game he said he's leaning towards staying in Motown. Good sign, hopefully.
Glubki 17 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 What doesn't make sense to me is why Boston claimed him off the wire. He is having an awful August and they are 5.5 back in the wild card chase. As to why the Tigers waived him; he likes it in Detroit and knows the team isn't going to the playoffs. He has also said he wants to come back next season even if he is traded. So why not let the Tigers waive and trade him to a contender for the last 30+ games so the team can get a pick out of it. I'm sure this was all discussed before hand but no one expected the Red Sox to claim him. Tampa, the Yanks and the Reds all made more sense as probable destinations. GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) I like Damon, but if there are prospects of any sort to be had in exchange, then do it without question. I was hoping the same exact thing would happen to Inge with the Cardinals instead of Feliz. The Tigers are done this season and the farm system stinks. If the Red Sox want Damon back as a likely rental, then the Tigers could always re-sign him this off-season anyways. Damon said he likes the organization and he certainly would understand the business side of being traded. Plus the Tigers can get a longer look at Casper Wells and maybe Ryan Strieby/Jeff Frazier in September if Damon goes. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 He's continuing to say he wants to stay here. I hope he does, and I hope he re-signs during the off-season for longer than 1 year.
Travis 576 Report post Posted August 25, 2010 Damon was quoted by ESPN as saying, "I love wearing the Old English D" and, "I love Detroit". I'd love to see him re-signed in the off-season. Maggs and Inge, too. I'm really liking Rhymes at 2B, but I'd love to see the Tigers pick up some support in the line-up for Cabby. Maybe a big bat at 3rd/DH, or Catcher. Laird can walk, and honestly - Guillen can, too. He's hurt way too much.
