Berry 2 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 I personally think that Rafalski was simply the best defensemen in Olympics. I estimate that he averaged about 30 minutes per game and he finished as the best scorer among the defensemen. I hope tomorrow night and until the end of the season, he’ll play in that way. GOOD JOB RAFFY!!!
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 Second best. Duncan Keith was better.

KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 IMO Rafalski did play good but not amazing, Miller made Ralf looked good on some situations.

wingsfaninMA 3 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 I watched every game in the tournament and Rafalski was the best player not just dman. Whoever said keith was is a joke. Seriously you must love keith more than ur wife if u actually think it.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 Keith was tied for second in defense scoring and was not on the ice for a goal against for the duration of the Olympics. Not only should he have been on the All-Star team (Miller, Rafalski, Weber, Toews, Parise, Demitra) he should have been named best defenseman.

mmamolo 287 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 Naming the all-star team is a tough thing because Weber and Rafalski both had great tournaments but so did Keith. In my opinion Weber was named over Keith just because he was a little bit more flashy and noticeable while out there. For me Rafalski, despite his defensive lapse on the gold medal winning goal, did have a great tournament and does deserve the praise he's getting. THe olympics are funny. For some players they're going to rejuvenate their seasons and get them hot down the stretch (which hopefully it does for Rafalski) while it's going to cool some players off who were on streaks in the NHL prior to the break. It's just the nature of the beast. The good thing is, for the Red Wings, for the most part we had a strong trounament. Guys like Filppula, Rafalski, Franzen, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg had good showings. While Kronwall and Lidstrom may not have put up points played decently. We'll see how it works out for us down the stretch.

In my opinion Weber was named over Keith just because he was a little bit more flashy and noticeable while out there. The thing is...Weber was no more offensively effective than Keith. And Keith was on the ice for zero goals against. Zero. Just based on stats, it's hard to argue Weber was better than Keith. Maybe he was more flashy...but so was Ryan Suter. Blaayze 25 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 I thought Doughty had an amazing tournament. For what was expected of him, and what he gave, I think there is no better than Drew.
RedWingAbner 13 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) I'm sure that several teams were happy with his play, as it kept them in games. He scored....yes. But his defensive play was atrocious, as always. Quite a few goals were Brian Rafalski's man completely confusing him as he attempted to do whatever he is doing out there.
