Hutts11 3 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 I think you might be seeing Ozzie play at least two of the remaining games. If Ozzie plays good, then he plays good. Still Howard will be our goalie for the playoffs. Even though we all know how awesome Ozzie is when it comes to the playoffs!!
Zeowingsfan 16 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 While thinking on this topic I realized that there is in fact a way for Osgood to take the starting job. All he needs to do is input iddqd and the job will be his.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) I'd love to see Osgood get torched in this game... so we can finally stop seeing posts from the few remaining fools who think he should be starting in the playoffs. I don't see anybody saying that he should be starting in the playoffs lately, so you are just exaggerating and being really stupid. What the heck did Chris Osgood do to you personally in the past life to deserve the treatment he gets? Watching hockey when he was playing does not count. Did he make fun of you in high school or steal your lunch money or something? Seriously... Edited April 3, 2010 by SouthernWingsFan
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 It's hard not to stick up for a guy who's been around so long, and a handfull of ppl hate so rabidly. My call is Ozzie has 3 go into his net Sunday. I mean, how long's it been since he's started a game and the team in front of him played well? October maybe? All the WD-40 (so to speak) in the world can't fix that. zombi 43 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 As much as I would love to see the Wings continue with Jimmy in net, I really think Ozzie is overdue for an appearance. As the post above me pointed out, the rest of the team has not played very well in front of Ozzie when they put him net before. Now, with a healthy lineup and a team that is consistently playing well, Ozzie should be able to handle himself a lot better. Prediction: Wings (3) v. Flyers (1)

SDavis35 140 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 Don't lecture me about being a true fan. I'm a fan of this team and have been for nearly 20 years. I hope the team wins but I hope Osgood fails. Being a fan doesn't mean you blindly accept or love every player in an organization or decision an organization makes. Your definition of fandom exists in two places your mind and the hearts of Leaf fans. Just because you've been a fan for 20 years doesn't mean you're a "true fan". But, who are we to determine "true fanship" when the reality (imo) is that it's the heart behind cheering for your team that makes you a fan. I hated Hasek his entire time here; hated the guy his entire career for irrational reasons, but I still supported him as a Wing until he retired. I want the Detroit Red Wings to succeed regardless of who is playing in goal, if Howard falters I'm happy having Osgood take over, especially if he gives us a chance to win. 2 Doc Holliday and Dano33 reacted to this

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 3, 2010 Damn, I was hoping for the 5th seed. Guess we'll have to settle for the 6th seed instead. How do you know where they will be seeded? The game hasn't even been played yet. i want ozzy to play crap just to shut up you guys who are on his nuts, ozzy is garbage. Nobody is on Osgood's nuts, nobody in their right mind thinks he is going to start in the playoffs. The only people that are exaggerating in here are the people that have an obsessive disliking of him. Everybody else, whether they are big Osgood fans or indifferent, are carrying on like normal here. I'm not going to get into the whole are you a fan debate thing. You all claim you are Wings fans. That's fine, I'm not going to argue that. Wanting somebody to fail though that plays on your favorite team - when he's dedicated a good bit of his career to one organization and doesn't have an attitude problem or is a jackass - is just embarrassing and pitiful though. That's how some of you are acting regarding this. Absolutely pitiful. I will never understand the obsessive Osgood disliking from some people in here. 7 cjm502, Dano33, GoWings1905 and 4 others reacted to this

I hope Ozzie gets a shutout in dominating fashion. However I will slightly agree with you on one thing; anyone who actually wants Oz to start in the playoffs for us has obviously not been watching Red Wings hockey (and more specifically Jimmy Howard) this season. If not for Howard, we wouldn't even be in the post season.

Guest REDWINGSFTW Report post Posted April 4, 2010 I dont claim to be a wings fan, I am a wings fan, I do appreciate what Osgood has done, that doesnt mean i cant wish for him to have a bad games, its just that some of you think he can take over all the time and it pisses me off. Nothing mattered it seems, like the redwings were not stacked with players the years we won the cup, those years we won because solid goaltending and a all around beast team. Our defense would clear are the garbage rebounds and not allow many shots on goal, our offense was so potent. You guys are acting like Osgood put us on his back and took us to the cup. 1 TheDetroitRedWings reacted to this
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 4, 2010 For those of you who are of the mind "Chris Osgood sucks, Jimmy Howard should play 90 minutes a game" I have some information for you. In Jimmy Howard's last ten starts, here are his stats: W/L/OTL: 5-4-1 GA: 27 SA: 265 Sv: 238 SO: 0 Mins: 597 Sv%: .898 GAA: 2.71 SAPG: 26.6 And an inordinate number of the goals he's given up recently have been 'weak' goals. So claiming "Playing Osgood will ruin our season!" after the way Howard has been playing recently is ignorant, biased, or both. If Osgood is stellar against Philly, I wouldn't be shocked to see him get two of the remaining games after that. If he gets a shutout in impressive fashion, maybe even all three. Doubtful he can do anything at this point to change Babcock's mind on who the playoff starter is, but he might earn a couple extra regular season starts with some strong play. 3 Skeptikal, katielvn and Drake_Marcus reacted to this

Carman 387 Report post Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) Why do we need to attack either goalie? No reason to try and use stats to hurt Howard, and no reason to wish Osgood to fail. Let's just be happy we have an experienced goalie as a back up, and a young stud who has played great all year.
