blues_demitra38 11 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 Can someone convince me why the Wings shouldn't sign this guy? Watching the Blues closely I can tell you that he might have lost a step in the past few years but that still puts him two steps ahead of everyone else. He skates like the wind and has a ton of skill. This team is chalk full of centers that would benefit from a legit producer like him. Imagine Filppula's production with Kariya on his wing. Can you say breakout year? 1 puffy reacted to this
Zion 93 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 The guy scores at-will on shootouts. High glove, every time... I'd be for it. He provides toughness that the Wings lack, also. 3 mjlegend, 55fan and ilmickeyli reacted to this
Wing Across The Pond 196 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 Is there a Mighty Ducks theme going on here? I'd like him, but would probably be a little too much. Modano is the cheaper option, most likely (yet still to be seen).
Swayze 81 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 I'd rather have Kariya than Modano, but he'd want more money too.

Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted July 22, 2010 I never thought I'd say this, but I actually wouldn't mind this happening provided he came cheap. His numbers were down last year, but that was with less ice time then he was used to, and pretty much every Stl forward had an off year anyways. As a depth scoring piece, I really wouldn't be opposed to this if Modano doesn't work out. He still has game breaking speed, and maybe playing for a contender like us would make him motivated to go out with a bang/cup. He made 6 million last year. I doubt he's going to want to come here for what we have available to offer him. In before "Red Wing Discount"/O6 Market/Chance for a cup run.

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 My sister has a mad crush on him. I'd gag. Yeah, we've discussed this. On the other hand, he is a highly skilled hockey player. If he came in at a low salary, I'd sure take him. Not many teams can say they have a pair of Byngs on their team. Not that my sister knows him or anything, but she says that he'll probably sign with the Sucks and reunite with Teemu. She could be wrong. She was once in 1985. Fighting =/= toughness. Remember when he got destroyed by Stevens, came back minutes later and scored a goal in 2003? That's toughness. NomadFromKazoo 42 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 Maybe the Wings should sign Modano, Kariya and Guerin and pretend it's the 90s again. In more ways then one... Sure, any of them who'll sign for a mil would be cool, but other then Modano why would they be interested? Winning a cup and home town discount is one thing, but signing for what to them is a nominal sum I don't see them doing other then for personal reasons like Modano. wally42 1 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 I think we should not only sign kariya, but modano as well. And then we should trade zetterberg or datsyuk for mark recchi. Why do you guys want the red wings organization to become a nursing home?

Why do you guys want the red wings organization to become a nursing home? If we were talking multi million dollar deals then I'd agree with you, but of course we'd sign those guys if they'd sign for what we can afford, which is very little (by pro athlete standards). I think the question is more why anyone thinks they would sign for that.
