I mean, this is probably going to be a hot topic around the NHL. I think it would be if any other superstar pulled it.

Not really.

Not a lot of hoopla over something as similar, but then again Ovechkin can do no wrong in the eyes of everyone it seems.

why do people hate crosby as a player Id say by a small margin he is the best player in the game.

This forum's obsession with Crosby is getting a little creepy.

It's approaching obsessiveness like Blackhawks fans chanting "Detroit sucks" during their Cup celebration.

The mods should make a sidney forum so ppl who don't want to read a billion crosby threads can avoid them. They could make Carman in charge of it.

It really wasn't that bad. I've seen OV do a lot worse. Slew-footing, while to gain speed in the neautral-zone is pretty difficult. Was it dirty? naw. Was it stupid? Yes. Did Callahan embellish some? Probably. Crosby is a tool, this only confirms it more.

seriously? that is what this whole thread is about??

I think Crosby is a very talented player, but I'd still like to punch his stupid douchey face.

I think he's a whiny little *****. Talented player. Little *****.

But that's barely a slew foot. It's two guys interfering with one another. Yeah, only Callahan got the penalty so it was a missed call. Big f-in deal.

Original call looks like its when Callahan puts his hand out on Crosby. A little bit extreme to dump Callahan that way, but w/e, usually they don't call a penalty after another is active unless it is something very flagrent, also they would have to stop play, and it looked like the pens were on the attack.

That said, it seems Crosby gets alot of these kinds of calls. But, it's probly true that no one would think twice of most calls like this unless it had a Crosby or Ovechkin involved.

The pens were up 1-0 no one scored on the powerplay in question or at all till the next period. No controversy here.

yeah, i agree that it's not a terribly drastic play -- i think the problem is that the ranger got called for a penalty when, if anyone should have gotten called, it was crosby (albeit by perhaps only a marginal amount). if this had happened between two players in an islanders-canes game, no one would be talking about it...but when there's a general feeling among fans (and players, it seems) that crosby gets a way with a lot and whines a lot, this is yet another incident in what seems to be a pattern.

the thing with detecting patterns like this, though, is confirmation bias. we make a big deal out of the things that confirm our presuppositions and ignore everything that doesn't.

amen to these words of truth.

truth being said, I find it difficult to blame people for having too much of the ridiculous media hype around Sindy. I can't stomach it despite not living in America and thus not being directly exposed to the very media.

it's not his fault but it still doesn't make me happy when hockey media orgasms about Crosby's simplest fart, whike talented guys like Staal, Sharp or Briere are completely ignored. and I won't even begin with Semin or Backstrom, because that would be too much... :)

at the end of the day - I do agree with you, but can't blame people ripping him or his hype.

Super cheap slew foot by Crosby. I'm surprised he didn't get called for it. Would love for someone to tear him a new one.

Finally got to see the video (thanks Doc). I'm not surprised he didn't get called for it. Crosby is a disgrace to hockey and is a terrible captain. The example he sets is deplorable.

I don't think anyone accuses Crosby of being a "dirty player" like he was complaining about. We accuse him of being a cry-baby and for diving like a professional, as well as losing his cool every time something doesn't go his way.

Seriously, the NHL needs to start calling dives again, it's getting way out of hand. I haven't seen one called since like 2006. It's turning into soccer out there.

Actually Dubinsky called him a dirty player in a post game interview. I don't think he's dirty, I think he plays the game hard and then does dumb stuff every now and then. As for more diving being called, I agree. Although, I'm pretty sure Helm was called for a dive in game 7 against the Yotes. I know there were two dives called in one of the Habs game 7's (I believe against the Caps).

Callahan definitely interfered. Crosby's slew-foot is less certain. Crosby does end up kicking out Callahan's skate, but Callahan sticks out his arm and them leans into Crosby when Crosby is skating up from behind him. Callahan gets his skates tied up on his own before Crosby ever kicks his skate, otherwise he might not have even fallen.

I hate to defend Cindy, but not calling the slew-foot is perfectly justifiable the way it happened.

Yep ugly slew-foot, not going to defend a play like that.

But acting like Crosby is one of the dirtiest players in the NHL is just laughable.

Ovechkin has like 3 slewfoots that are all worse than this.

I'm more intrigued about how well the Pens are playing right now. The have the #1 PK in the league despite a crappy start by Fleury. They're also top 5 in shots and goals against. Their defense is a little better right now than DET. Maybe the Wings should steal whatever it is they're doing right.

These were my same sentiments.

Ewww, I feel dirty for agreeing with you....

I heard that last season Crosby decided he wasn't dirty enough so he spent the whole summer training with Avery in Mario's basement.

Nice work Sean!

That's just not fair. Ken Holland's been trying to get the Wings moved to the Eastern Conference for years now.
