atodaso 279 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 Brush it off and come out strong the next game. exactly. no team has ever won 82 games in a season. when the wings are playing a good game and are winning we ask ourselves: "how do these guys ever lose a game?" well... this is how it happens. even if they win 60 games this year they will still lose 22. this game was one of those 22. 2 HankthaTank and Vladifan reacted to this

dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 The 2nd half of the 2nd period and the 3rd period was probably the worst hockey the Wings have played this season. Just terrible. Howard didn't have a great game, but he was bound to have a bad one eventually- all goalies do. Also, Zetterberg's worst game this season. Maybe one of his worst ever? He didn't do a lot of things right out there. Imo Datsyuk, the 4th line and..Ericsson (!) are pretty much the only ones who looked good. I hate that we lost like this against the Sharks, but they're somewhat desperate for wins already and the Wings are anything but, so it's not a huge deal. Hopefully we see a better effort next game though. One more thing: Franzen's goal was beautiful! Or rather, everything that lead up to it. Datsyuk's entrance of the zone in particular. At that point I felt for sure we'd win the game, don't know what happened..

Absolutely have to agree with this. 2 key giveaways that led to 2 of the Sharks' goals. Just a real bad effort on Hank's part and the rest of the team last night. Look for a much different team out there Wednesday (hopefully! ) Edited December 7, 2010 by HankthaTank

evilzyme 769 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 Can we please get Hudler the f*** away from our team anytime soon? I'm still having flashbacks of his horrible pinch resulting into the the shorthanded goal. We really should've gave him a 2-way contract..... ugh. Overall, bad game for the Wings. I think after the 2 goals within 8 seconds just really shout us down fast. Wings are normally a solid rebound team and we work hard to get the momentum back quickly but last night we just couldn't get it done.
the_winged_wheel 3 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 These are "schedule losses" nothing more, nothing less. This happens to the wings every year, always has, always will, until the NHL gets there act together and puts Detroit where they belong-Eastern Conference. No Eastern Time zone team out there can play on the west coast for a week, conclude it with 3 games in 4 nights, which includes coming across the country, playing through jet lag, and play a complete 60 min game all within 36 hours. Wings are fine, will win the division, conference, and cup as this team looks to be a clone of the 08 Champs.

Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) I don't know why people don't get this but they always suck when they have one day off coming back from the West. Experienced it first hand when they played their home opener in last year's first round. Came back from Phoenix with one day off, looked good in the 1st and then slowly imploded. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 I love people on this site who predict that the Wings will lose every game (ie. Mindfly) and then when they do occasionally lose they act like they are the mesiah of hockey predictions ! Guest Heaten Report post Posted December 7, 2010 Hey, a broken clock is right twice a day. Even though it was my first GDT prediction, ever? I never made a game prediction before, but this one was painfully predictable. Trust me, I wish I was wrong. Someone posted up above that was a 100%. This game was a "schedule loss", nothing more. People shouldn't invest so much emotion into a 'scheduled lost' game.

Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 7, 2010 I'm pretty sure the wings-islanders game on the new years eve will be another "schedule loss", comes after a 4 day roadtrip to the mountains, texas etc and then home to meet a team they've had a hard time playing hard against because they are in the east and there is zero emotions. Nightfall 871 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 My brother used to play travel hockey back in the day. His team was unbeatable this one year and they rattled off 14 straight wins. Then, they lost a game, and the comments from those people are about the same as the ones here. Goalie had a bad game. He should have stopped 4 of those goals. Defense really cost us the game. The refs are at fault because they blew the whistle on a good goal! Forwards didn't backcheck enough. Forwards really were bad. If the team doesn't turn it around next game, I am going to be disappointed. As a few people pointed out, its an 82 game season. The wings are on pace for a 54 win season right now. Washington finished with 54 wins last season and won the presidents trophy. They are the best team in hockey right now. Every good team is going to have a bad game every now and then. Every good goalie is going to have a bad game. Sometimes the puck doesn't bounce for you. Thats hockey for you. I'm pretty sure the wings-islanders game on the new years eve will be another "schedule loss", comes after a 4 day roadtrip to the mountains, texas etc and then home to meet a team they've had a hard time playing hard against because they are in the east and there is zero emotions. Just to think that many wings fans here were getting upset at the long breaks between games in October/November. Now that December is here and we are getting hammered with games, people ***** that there isn't enough of a break between games.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 Turnovers and intent to blow hurt us last night. We'll be fine... but Hudler... get him out.
wingsgirl001 983 Report post Posted December 8, 2010 Yeah, we pretty much imploded after the first period. Wasn't a good game at all. Just a fluke, hopefully.
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted December 8, 2010 I said Howard will need to steal this one if Wings have any chance to gain any points. I also said Wings will not play well. If Red Wings played a full 60 minutes to your satisfaction, then I overestimated your hockey intellegence. I predicted a loss unless Howard played like GOD. Did Wings win? No, I didn't think so. Oh my mistake, I thought that you said it was EXACTLY like you predicted. I'm pretty sure the wings-islanders game on the new years eve will be another "schedule loss", comes after a 4 day roadtrip to the mountains, texas etc and then home to meet a team they've had a hard time playing hard against because they are in the east and there is zero emotions. I think that a pee-wee hockey team could beat the Islanders though. The 2nd half of the 2nd period and the 3rd period was probably the worst hockey the Wings have played this season. Just terrible. I'd pay good money to see an attempt like this. That "blow the whistle rules" need to change, or at least be able to be overturned. Such bulls***. I'm in full agreement with you on the intent to blow stuff when a whistle hasn't been blown yet after it crosses the goal line, but I can't really fault the refs when an example like what last night happened. The ref has to blow the whistle dead at some point, just sucked that it happened when the puck squirted loose and in after he eventually did blow the whistle. I don't particularly like it but under the current context it's hard to find fault with officials for this, even though they are a joke overall. For everybody else (EDIT: the people who are pumping their chests trying to tell each other off, you know who you are in here), f**king get over yourselves for crying out loud. Nobody gives a s**t who was right or who was wrong if you guessed the game outcome correctly or not to the 2000th power. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted December 8, 2010 A little over-dramatic there huh? Wings have been pretty damn good this season, I haven't watched EVERY game, but what I saw in the 2nd half of last nights game was the worst I've seen them play this season. Z almost never has a BAD game, but that's what he had last night. He's had games where he's been invisible, but I can't remember ever noticing him doing so many things..wrong. Maybe it's not his worst game ever, but it HAS to be up there. So no, I don't think I was being overdramatic. 1 Original-Six reacted to this
