Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

That won't work either, because the misconception that Detroit gets first pick if he reenters waivers is false.

What's happening between now and tomorrow at noon is all interested teams are submitting their name into the hat for Nabby's contract. The NHL then looks over who's interested and pick the team lowest in the standings. If that team decides to reintroduce Nabokov to waivers, then the next team on the list gets first dibs and they work their way up through all the teams that expressed interest. The Detroit Red Wings are last on that list.

At this point, I'm not sure what to believe. I thought I knew how the waiver process worked yesterday at this time. Today... Not so much.

Have any teams been ruled out? I mean It's been a Hour... How long can it take to say Yes or No?

the suspense is killing me!

why couldn't we just sneak him out of russia like we did fedorov?

ah, what a simpler time, when all it took was risking lives of families, dark ops and a boatload of money to get a player... damn CBA and the end of the Cold War ruining everything!

The only team we will definitively know that put in a claim for Nabokov will be the team he's rewarded to. Won't know anything, more than likely, until noon tomorrow.

Each team has until noon tomorrow to submit their interest. The NHL pools all the interested teams together then calls up the one that's lowest in the standings.

We won't hear an inkling of news until afternoon tomorrow.

I'm in favor of these waiver-wire rules being changed.

Agreed

I think if a team puts in the effort for the signing and negotiating they should get a conditional pick or some form of compensation if a different team claims him....

or

just let the team that signed him have him!

And either Larionov, Konstantinov or Fetisov? Seems like one of them was the "pioneer" for that kind of neato skulduggery? :lookaround:

They won't announce anything till 12PM EST time tomorrow.

Looking at the number of players Meehan is an agent for, the letter someone wrote above may have more than a little truth. He has enough clout that he just might make this happen.
