Who would you rather play

Now that the Predators have advanced to the 2nd Round of the Playoffs let's consider the possibilties of who we could play if the Canucks do win their series than they will play the Predators as long as San Jose Beats LA. Now lets the Blackhawks do come back and Win and than LA wins than that would mean the Wings are the highest seed remaining in the West and they would play the Hawks and it would be LA and Nashvile. Now if Vacouver wins and San Jose wins Wings will play San Josen in Round 2. So who would you like to see the Wings play in the next round. No matter what really happens who do you want the Wings to play. I'm actually kinda hoping the Wings would play the Hawks however if Chicago can beat a 1st place team what could they do Vs a 3rd place team but that's not saying anything becasue we all know anything can happen in the playoffs. More realstically I guess I'd want to play San Jose becasue the Wings played them last year in the 2nd round and they beat us so I would hope that would make the Wings that much more hungry to beat them this season. So what are you thoughts and who would you like to see the Wings play?

I think the Wings make short work of the Hawks and that would be by far the easiest route. I think Nashville and San Jose are more realistic options, and that is more of a pick your poison. Wings have struggled against both teams, but I would ultimately pick San Jose largely because I think Neimi is not near the goaltender Rinne is, and the Sharks are stumbling against a Kings team they should have beaten up on by now and moved on.

Well no matter who the Wings play next I know one thing for sure I'm gonna really really start dreading the playoffs now. I predict a lot of sleepless nights and some upset stomach's for the next few weeks at least hopefully two months but I'll say a few weeks for now. Gonna need some Pepto and a lot of Tylenol PM.

I feel like we can honestly been any team after watching some of these series but I would prefer to avoid SJ because they may one day learn to win in the playoffs. Ill take the matchup with Nashville.

My ideal scenario: LA comes back to beat the Sharks in 7 and Chicago wins game 7. Then we play a wary beat-up Hawks team that seriously lacks depth.

Between SJ and Nashville I'd rather play the preds... there's less travel, Rinne has been very inconsistent and they are currently missing their top scorer in Martin Erat.

At this point SJ is the biggest threat in the West (if not for Quick they'd be through already) and their PP would definitely 'cause massive problems with our PK.

I would most want to play Chicago. For a couple reasons: 1, if they win their series now - that is their stanley cup. There is no way they can get higher emotionally if they win. Of course, one can point to Philly last year and how it carried them to the finals. But Philly was way better last year than Chicago is this year. They underperformed during the season and had the talent all along. I had them reaching the SCF in my bracket last year.

2, we beat Chicago at the end of the season when we had nothing to play for and they were playing for their lives. We didn't skate some of our top guys and we still beat them.

3, They have the weakest and least proven goaltending of all other options. SJ obviously has beatable goaltending as well but Niemi has at least shown what he is capable of. The Wings can score goals, so a vulnerable team like Chicago should be a cake walk for us.

4, They will have just gotten done with a tough 7 game series and they have already been hit with some injuries. Nashville is currently resting and SJ can wrap up their series in the next game. Chicago is just extremely beat up and we are nice and rested.

Next, I would want to play SJ.

1st, LA has shown they can be beat. They have also exposed SJ a few times with some major lapses.

2, Im a little nervous that we have a losing record vs SJ, but we do against Nashville as well so s***. I think we beat them pretty well last time we met - and the wings are playing better right now and the sharks are playing worse.

3, The Sharks can score goals and guys like Heatley, Thorton, Clowe and Couture can tear up our PK. I don't know if our defense can hold these guys off for an entire series.

Last I would want to play NSH.

1st, Rinne is a beast and the Red Wings are known to be stung by hot goaltenders.

2, NSH owns us during the regular season. Look for yourself. They own us, and have for a few seasons now.

3, they are a damn good defensive team. The red wings strength this year is they can score goals. Nashville has proven they can keep us from scoring. Since our weakness is D, this is the kind of team that will keep the game close and find ways to pop a few in on us.

4, NSH beats us up. They play really rough, and really dirty. Not only do I not like our chances against a physical team like them - but even if we do get by them I feel that we will pay the price with some heavy injuries.

5, I can say, however, that they struggled with the ducks at time and they are pretty weak. I don't think nashville is a better team than us, but they seem to match up well against us. So who knows.

Selfishly, I want it to be a central time zone team because keeping up this staying up late bit is just ridiculous, even me living an hour earlier in the central time zone (also factor in that I'm starting to follow the Hornets down here with a little more interest now as they are currently in a playoff series with the Los Angeles Lakers with late night games, and, yeah...).

But outside that which is ultimately of little importance, honestly it doesn't matter too much to me. I think San Jose stands out more above the other teams, but pretty much every team the Wings have the possibility of facing next round has had Jekyl and Hyde type performances, ridiculously inconsistent. One night they are dominant, the next night they are surrendering and absurd amount of goals.

If the Wings play like they do against Phoenix and they can stay healthy, I like their chances. If they go back to defensive inconsistencies late in the regular season, I don't like their chances so much, regardless of who they play.

I'll be one of the few guys who just has to say...

Never pick your poison.

Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuhhhh.

I will say it with you. The poison you pick will come back to beat you. It always seems to work out that way every now and again. The teams that move on do indeed move on for a reason. There are no cream puff teams at this stage of the playoffs.

Most likely San Jose finish off the Kings tomorrow and we meet them. I don't really want to face San Jose, their big guns scare me. I know they're playoff chokers but they did beat us last year and sooner or later you think everything has to click for them. Encouragingly though, the Kings have made it tough work for them and have exposed them at times, and their goaltending is pretty suspect, so I like our chances. Putting it simply, if we play as well as we did against Phoenix in the next round, with Zetterberg back, we should win regardless.
