Danglesyuk05 3 Report post Posted May 13, 2011 I wore 13 for few years while I played after Pavel..Then when 13 wasn't available in high school, I switched to 5. He is just amazing. I just remember at the end of the regular season, playing chicago, Pavs took the puck from the corner, skated up tot he top of zone while protecting the puck with one arm from two guys, then cut into the slot and went through FOUR guys without losing the puck. Then you seen plays like that over and over in these playoffs. It was capped off with that incredible backhander snipe last night. I have said to my buddies since the playoffs started that he definitely needs to be in the discussion as one of top few players in the NHL and he proved that with his performance in these players. Nev 1,085 Report post Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) I mean, seriously guys, are we taking our under-sized, under-weight, aenemic, bow-legged, pidgeon-toed superfreak for granted these days? Played with one winger the entire game and was still the best player on the ice. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted January 17, 2012 Basically every GDT is a Pavel Datsyuk appreciation thread. Though I can understand the desire to have a dedicated one. I said this a few seasons ago, I'll say it now, and I'll say it again in another few seasons - Pavel Datsyuk is going to be, when all is said and done, one of the greatest hockey players to EVER put on the Winged Wheel. Period. Yzerman, Howe, Lidstrom, Sawchuk, Lindsay, Delvecchio, Abel, Datsyuk. He belongs in that group. We've been utterly and completely spoiled ******* rotten watching him play all these seasons. Dude's money. Cash money. Cold hard cash money. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted January 17, 2012 (edited) Datsyuk is currently tied for fourth in the league in points with 49. He's only three points behind the league leading Henrik Sedin. Red Wings Addict 787 Report post Posted January 17, 2012 "He’s the best two-way player in hockey, bar none," Babcock said. "That’s because of his commitment without the puck and his faceoffs and his strength and his battle level and all the intangible things he has beside his skill set and his vision. "Those things are God-gifted, the other stuff he’s earned." 3 Hockeymom1960, Reds4Life and Nev reacted to this

Dude's money. Cash money. Cold hard cash money. Exactly. And I know Fedorov was a damn good player for the Wings as well and was a definite contributor to the cups, but guys like him and Shanahan have played elsewhere. I think there is new criteria for jersey retirement, you'd have to play your entire career with a Red Wing at the very least. And Datsyuk will definitely retire here. His number deserves to go up the rafters more than Shanny and Sergei imo.

Kira 451 Report post Posted January 17, 2012 To call him amazing is like calling the Grand Canyon a hole in the ground. There are no words to adequately describe either one of those phenomenons.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted January 17, 2012 Pavel is the best 2 way player in the game by far, it's not even close. He is amazing, and his work ethic is great. He is worth the price of admission all by it's self.

I'm current;ly at an all-inclusive resort in mexico, with my girlfriend.....having a great time, great weather, unlimited drinks, food, beach, sun...... My girl wanted to go to dinner.....as did i..... but not before i watched EVERY SINGLE CLIP from this thread(just a thread with datsyuk clips that i have seen 100 times before)which i have seen NUMEROUS times before. i can't describe my love for pavel....He is far and away my favorite human being on the planet other than my family and friends - and he even trumps some of them!!! as delusional as it sounds, i wouldnt trade pavel for crosby + malkin, or both sedins + kessler, or any other combination of players in the league. People talk about toews and his intangibles, but datsyuk puts up points....wins selke's, and still has a "je ne sais quoi" about him that is unmatchable. Pavel Datsyuk, you are my hero. xoxoxoxo........haha 1 crotty99 reacted to this
Red Wings Addict 787 Report post Posted January 21, 2012 … A vote in a national publication earlier this month declared Pavel Datsyuk the most underrated player in the NHL. Franzen thinks that's partly true."Not among the players in the league, but the general public he's still underrated," Franzen said. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120119/SPORTS0103/201190500/1128/sports0103/Notebook-TV-star-Nicklas-Lidstrom-gives-up-spotlight

up2here 41 Report post Posted January 24, 2012 I beleive this is the year Pav can win the Hart Trophy. As long as he stays healthy he will be right there for the Scoring Lead and if you combine that with his Faceoff and takeaway stats along with being the best defensive forward in the game I think he can be MVP.
