I found the real quote:

Call up the truck plants for GM, Ford, and Chrysler... Let us get some trucks, drive to JLA, have Ilitch fill up the beds with cash, then haul booty down to Nashville, and talk to Weber.

I dunno, that sounds an awful lot like roster tampering to me.... I'll allow it though!

Trade Hudler and offer this:

10

7.53 cap hit. Done deal!

Anyone else see that ESPN Insider article about how Detroit is the best fit for Doughty?

OMG in my wet dreams that would happen.

Unfortunately, it is ESPN

Yeah, just because Detroit is the 'best fit' for Doughty from a standpoint of sensibility and the future, it doesn't have anything to do with reality and certainly doesn't mean anything about the progress of his contract talk with the Kings.

What's the deal with Doughty? Is he scheduled for arbitration? What if they don't get a deal worked out? does he become UFA? Or is he simply the property of the kings?

EDIT:Also, can anyone post that article from ESPN? I can only read part of it... stupid insider today <_<

With recent Enroth re-signing the Sabres are $3.6M over the cap.

Maybe we could swap Hudler for Boyes somehow :P

It could save them 'only' $1.2M,but they already brought Leino and Kotalik so why not?

A friend of mine is a big Sabres fan, and he says that both the fans and the organization like Boyes a lot. I doubt they'll be moving him.

It's not surprise at all,he's a good player, but they're overloaded on the RW position.

Pominville,Boyes,Stafford,Leino,Kotalik...all top 9 wingers

Leino will be playing center there. Kotalik is not a top-nine winger. He was garbage in Calgary and New York. He was acquired mainly for his shootout abilities.

That kind of pisses me off.... I wanted him here...

Then no offense, but you've not been paying attention to the bi-yearly reminders (offseason and trade deadline) that Babcock and Prospal dislike each other.

Truthfully was not aware of this, but still would of wanted him here.

Well, Babcock doesn't like the guy, and presumably the guy doesn't like Babcock either. Presumably this is due to Prospal's poor attitude.

I don't see Prospal working here... and this is coming from someone who wanted to see him given a shot here a few years ago... not all good players are fits for the Wings, nor are the Wings good fits for all good players (See Ray Whitney)

No offense either, but those bi-yearly reminders were also covering Commodore and Babs as well... It might have opened the door for anyone at this point.

I didn't think they would sign him though, older and the type of player we already have.

There's a difference: Commodore had no job, and he signed for peanuts. He'll be a third-pairing or #7 defenseman and can be waived if he does poorly. Prospal is a second-line forward. He can't be circumvented quite so easily.

Somewhere Kyle Calder is going - "huh?!"

That guy's career really went into the toilet.
