Ehrhoff's rights traded to NYI, then traded to Buffalo

From Vancouver to the Island, wouldn't that be a helluva drop-off! Seems like a waste to me, I doubt he signs with them before checking the market out.

Well...every team needs to make it to the cap floor. NYI seem intent to spend big on one or two players on short term deals to make it happen.

I don't care, I do not want to get involved in this trading for a few days negotiating rights.

Also, if I was a free agent I would never allow this to happen. I would call up the team and tell them to ask for the trade to be negated because I intend to go to UFA no matter what.

This is teams getting greedy, like hording water.

I would be completely baffled if Ehrhoff accepts a contract with NYI... they are perennially failures and aren't turning around anytime soon. He'll pick a contender to go to, in the end. If he doesn't and just goes for a cash grab, then he's not worth it anyway.

We don't know what his intentions are. Not re-signing with the Nucks is a good indication though.

Kaberle is a quiet option. The guy"s got puck moving skills. In terms of a raw Rafalski replacement, I'd consider him AND I wouldn't be surprised if Kenny didn't do the same. The guy's been an offensive stud for years and I wouldn't have a problem with him at the right price, Wings fans.

Actually, they do. Can be fined, lose draft picks, or lose contracts, if they don't.

Not quite. It's a more complex issue than I previously stated. It's more accurate to say that the NHL wouldn't take any disciplinary actions unless a team was blatantly and with obvious intent violating the cap floor. If a team meets all reasonable expectations in trying to reach the floor and does not for some reason, or dips under due to lack of fulfillment of bonuses, the NHL may not respond to it to the same way. Dipping under the floor is a much more subjective situation than being over the cap.

I'd have to hope that Holland can pry either Ehrhoff or Wizniewski away from NYI and CBJ respectively and find someone else to solidify our D. IMO we got hit the worst out of any team this year in terms of Defense when Rafalski retired and I kind of expected Holland to make some moves, and aggressive ones at that. Nothing so far, and that scares me.
