St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 Get well soon Big E. Surely the Quincey deal swings (maybe) back in our favor. Bring up Smith please. I rather see him up here now than Kindl or Commodore. 1 Vladifan reacted to this

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 I think you misunderstood what I meant. Do I like that he fractured his wrist? Of course not. Will I miss him on the ice? Not at all, and that's what I meant. He makes me facepalm on a regular basis like nobody has since '05-'08 Lilja. You may not miss him, but the Wings will. Unless Kindl or Commie make a marked improvement in his absence, the Wings just got worse defensively. It seems like you'd want the best lineup on the ice. Ericsson also was 4th on the team in PK minutes (tied with Lids). In his absence that means those pk minutes will be picked up by Lidstrom, Stuart, Kronwall, and now Quincey. Like I said, picking up Quincey now becomes a good move as he can pick up some of those minutes without them having to go to Commie and Kindl. 1 Vladifan reacted to this

egroen 384 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 Sucks Ericsson is hurt, but it might help in the long run to give Kindl, Commodore and maybe even Smith minutes heading into the stretch. 1 Vladifan reacted to this

Superman54 91 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 I like Commie, but i rather Kindl play Orr like hockey while Ericsson's injured, so that when he's healthy Biggie but smalls ain't needed no more. Wings then get the luxury of trading away Big Rig to the all you can eat Florida Panthers, gaining a healthy chunk of salary cap space, along with having all star calibre J. Kindl's outta all of this. Repeat for 2013. I have a funny feeling though this might not happen, so get well soon there Big Rig :battle:

nuts2u 22 Report post Posted February 26, 2012 I find it quite amusing that we have so many experts on this forum that think they are so much better at evaluating talent and player potential than either Holland or Babcock. If Ericsson was as bad as some of you idiots say he wouldn't be playing for most teams and yet one of the best teams in the league can't seem to find enough short comings in his game to sit his ass on the bench. 4 Z and D for the C, Vladifan, Peadydog and 1 other reacted to this

If Ericsson was as bad as some of you idiots say he wouldn't be playing for most teams and yet one of the best teams in the league can't seem to find enough short comings in his game to sit his ass on the bench. With Hudler playing well, he's the scapegoat this season. At least people have stopped trying to argue that Kindl is clearly better than Ericsson but for some odd reason Holland Babcock keep playing E over him in the lineup. I think it's great that we have so many Smith lovers out there. When he does get called up, I hope to hell he plays flawlessly because I hate to see the love quickly transform to hate. It's grass is always greener. Hopefully people won't turn on Smith. The kid's got the potential to be a very good dman for Detroit, but he takes a fair amount of risks. There's going to be growing pains as he adapts to the game at this speed.
