Ozzie30 170 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 The most ideal, maybe somewhat realistic, outcome going forward IMO would be to pursue Semin and Doan. Hopefully land one (both would be even better) to boost the top-six and fill out the forward group. That would give the Red Wings an excessive amount of forwards, but that also creates some flexibility to trade for a top-pairing d-man like Yandle. Filppula for starters would definitely be gone in this scenario, though that might be the only way at this point to really bolster the defense. Getting Nash from Columbus would eliminate our assets and then we are still looking at a very questionable defense. I'd rather have Semin (or Doan) and Yandle than Nash and Carle. Fil has value, but Khan reminds us that its doubtful anyone would exchange him for a premier player because he's in the last year of his contract.
blgillett 48 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Fire Ken Holland. He is worthless. He's wasting time signing guys that dont help us (sammuelson, bertuzzi, tootoo, gustavson) and not signing anyone that does help us. This is the definition of a bad gm. All thats left for him to do now is give Holmstrom another 2 years. This offseason had to be big for Detroit. Shultz, Parise, and Suterwould have vaulted Detroit to the top again. Instead - total strikeout AND overpay/extend for complete CRAP. Holland - you suck. it to bad that people are that Ignorant and don't realize just how good Ken Holland is he is by far the best GM in the business 1 nyqvististhefuture reacted to this

LeftWinger 5,129 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Ok, trade Filppula plus for Ryan....enough to gain Cap space...sign Doan, trade for Yandle, sign Semin & Mueller. I just don't know what the "plus" will be for Ryan or what Yandle would cost us....I think Doan and Semin will cost less than $9M together....

jroc86 90 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Schultz, Parise, and Suter all went to the teams they were rumored to for MONTHS. We never had a bead on Schultz or Parise - and Suters agent is in bed with the Wild brass. A year from now we could all be laughing that Ryan Suter got paid 12 million to put up 25 points and Brendan Smith got paid 800k and put up 30. Seriously ... chill out. Our forward group is still elite, our goaltending situation has been shored up as well. We NEED a top 4 defensemen and could USE another forward that can either snipe or add grit. Octobers a long way off. Semin would be a good start - IF he isn't demanding a long term contract. Yandle or Boumeester are both in play and Filp + extras would likely get either. Doan would be Great - and Id be happy to overpay him for a 2-3 year deal if the Yotes are headed to Quebec.

You've been turned down by the hottest girls at the bar, and now you're angry and desperate. So you turn your attention to overrating someone else at the bar, in order to get something out of the night. That's what Holland is going to do now that Suter and Parise have turned Detroit down. We don't have a choice if we want to be good next season. The KHL is bidding for him too. I doubt Holland will want to give him the term he's seeking, nor should he. If w could bring in Semin on a 1-2, possibly even a 3 year deal, I'd do it - but I honestly think he's looking for looong term.

From what I gather, both the Ducks and Coyotes are reportedly looking for a top-6 center, plus pciks/prospects. Fil has value, but Khan reminds us that its doubtful anyone would exchange him for a premier player because he's in the last year of his contract. He's elgible to sign an extension. If that was the real stumbling block, let him talk to the potential team to work out an extension first.

Everybody's been saying that. and our forward group is the same as last year pretty much, and we had severe trouble scoring the last few months of the season. We also badly need a top defenceman, the only one who seems to left (assuming Carle signs with tampa) is Keith yandle via trade.

LeftWinger 5,129 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Dude, you're gonna hate Semin. He's Hudler 2.0 I understand the concerns, but Hudler has never come anywhere near 70 points or 40 goals, let alone 84 points... Semin with Datsyuk will find us our first 40 goal scorer since Hossa....Doan will chip in 30...Ryan could top 100 points here with Pav or Z... Yandle will be top paring minutes and should get 40 points there... Semin has seen a drop in production the same reason Ovechkin's did...they tried to change his game, here he will be let loose as the sniper he is... Yes I am being optimistic, but I can see it happening...but he needs to take about $4M in salary...or less.

She's still looking pretty good and looking for the time of her life. I'd rather go for a girl like that as opposed to a younger girl that may or may not make it home with me. redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Ok so here is a crazy idea, but what about Mike Komiserek? Burke has been trying to dump this guy for ever and maybe a change of scenery would do him good. He was decent with Montreal and only has 4.5M and 2 years left on the contract. With the cap going up and Kenny having a lot of cap space he could easily just dump him in the minors or buy him out if it doesn't work out. He could be had for peanuts and Kenny could dump a couple useless bottom 6 guys on Toronto for him. Just a thought.

LeftWinger 5,129 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 (edited) detroit is the premier destination for 35+ players. If it gets a Cup, then I am all for it....I can deal with getting an aging vet for a couple of years, every couple of years to put us over the top in the quest...he would still be only the 3rd player over 35+ on our team...Semin, Yandle, Mueller and Ryan are young. Filppula being the main one going for Ryan and Franzine main one going for Yandle. I would say Quincey would go to Phoenix as well and Abby to Anaheim...throw in a prospect to each to sweetin the pot...Mursak, Emmeton and Cleary can go for picks for all I care.... BTW, I am going back to a dream roster in my sig, since deleting it didn't help in getting Suter...
