Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Total panic reaction and completely unnecessary! Jurco hasn't been part of the problem, he may not have been creating much offense but he has been doing everything else that he's asked to do. Also, Bert for Jurco makes our lineup slower, something I don't think we can afford with as much as we've been being outhit. How do we know what's been asked of Jurco? Maybe his isn't even coming close to what's been asked. Babcock is slightly more knowledgable than I am in matters such as these, but I don't have much of an issue with this swap anyway. It lets the guys know that he willing to shake things up a bit.
LAWings 160 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Danny Cleary will be in for game 5. On a side note, we really are a young team, in all the players dressed, there are only 3 Stanley Cups between them...Datsyuk with 2 and Zetterberg with 1. So there's not much playoff winning experience going around.

PavelValerievichDatsyuk 1,935 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Why didn't they take out Andersson instead? You could still have Bert with Sheahan and Tats and just move Jurco to a different line Edited April 24, 2014 by PavelValerievichDatsyuk
Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 So how does everyone feel about Todd Bertuzzi tonight? WOW - are you guys kidding me? Have you not watched or understood our offensive struggles this entire series? Between our constant turnovers, abysmal forecheck, and lack of any sort of net front presence (see our PP%) our team - for the first time in a long time - has looked VERY young. Quite simply, our roster in games 2/3 (w/o Alfreddson who does make a difference) cannot compete with the Bruins. I understand Jurco is a very quick and talented player, but quickness and talent wont translate into offensive success when your chasing the cycle around each shift. Bertuzzi immediately helps the forecheck, immediately helps the PP and most importantly provides a veteran presence to this line of youngsters. I know he is not the saviour (I think we already know who that is) but I'm wondering why people who have watched this team play all series, are upset about this change. You can't remove any of the penalty killers and you aren't taking Legwand out... I hope Bert destroys Marchand tonight and finally earns us some respect (just count the cheapshots), Yeah, a guy who had a .25 ppg will be the spark plug this team needs 1 kipwinger reacted to this

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Bert will die trying out there.. at least he looks scarier than anyone else we have, so he might get the Bruins attention or divert them from killing Z. 2 DatsyukianDekes and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
WingedWheel91 271 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Well its a +0.25 PPG upgrade over what Jurco has produced this postseason. Sometimes a team as good as Boston will force you to play their game - a game that Bertuzzi is better suited for than Jurco. 1 DatsyukianDekes reacted to this
rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 This. As soon as he was taken off the kid line both him and Tatar looked worse (Tatar not as much). Same thing that happened earlier this year. When Jurco was out with a broken rib, Tats went on a slump. He came back, sparkplug!

Datsyukian-Deke 722 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Babcock doesn't like how that line has been skating and the lack of pressure in the offensive zone and your solution is putting Bertuzzi in???
kipwinger 8,754 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Jurco has been ineffective. Let's see what Bertuzzi can bring. What's been more ineffective about him than anyone else? (note: this is not a rhetorical question, I missed large chunks of games 2 and 3 and I'm wondering if you noticed something I didn't)
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Babcock doesn't like how that line has been skating and the lack of pressure in the offensive zone and your solution is putting Bertuzzi in??? I'm kind of skeptical of this, as well. Bertuzzi needs to use his frame to our advantage and play physical tonight, obviously in addition to abstaining from taking idiotic penalties. Babcock is slightly more knowledgable than I am in matters such as these, but I don't have much of an issue with this swap anyway. It lets the guys know that he willing to shake things up a bit. My point as not specifically what Babaock asked Jurco to do, I meant what players in a playoff situation are asked to do in general, go to the hard areas, play the body, back check, etc. which Jurco has done whether he is scoring or not. Could very well be other factors involved, but I disagree with this move on many levels.
Datsyukian-Deke 722 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Why not put Tootoo in? The guy has speed and can hit and we can't have too many hitters against a tough Boston team.
_SP_ 129 Report post Posted April 24, 2014 Zetterberg-Datsyuk-AbdelkaderNyquist-Helm-FranzenJurco-Sheahan-TatarMiller-Legwand-BertuzziDoes anyone have a major problem with this lineup? I would rather Franzen sit, but it won't happen... at least he's on a line he semi-competed well with this year. The kid line carried us into the playoffs... and it was with Nyquist on a different line. Of course, playing Jurco on a separate line with people he hasn't played with much (remember, he spent a lot of time in GR with those two), he's going to look different or hesitant. You've got to be able to read your teammates minds when on the ice... so put the guys together that have played together! 1 McAwesome reacted to this

(note: this is not a rhetorical question, I missed large chunks of games 2 and 3 and I'm wondering if you noticed something I didn't) I think Jurco struggled with puck control in the offensive zone mightily, and after losing the puck he consistently seemed to be a step behind the Bruins defensemen all the time. Nerves perhaps.
