kipwinger 8,756 Report post Posted November 6, 2014 Again, just because the playoff streak means nothing to some people, doesn't make it meaningless. It's a huge deal to ownership, management, coaching staff, players, and most fans... I don't think that anyone REALLY believes it's meaningless. Just that it shouldn't become and end in-and-of itself. Which it kinda did last year with regard to the Legwand-Jarnkrok trade. Or at least you could make a good argument that it did. PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted November 9, 2014 I've been following him this season and he gets decent ice time. Averaging 13 mins a game. No points to show so far. Hes 156lbs! WOW. Also been following Flip and Huds. Both are doing decent. Seems like Flips ice time has influxed a bit. He's also a -3 so far.

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted November 9, 2014 People have to keep in mind those guys have access to the best supplement stuff there is, so gaining weight is only a matter of time if they are serious about their fitness and shape. Best example is Luke Schenn the guy added around 28 lbs ! in one off-season- that's how good some of this pro supplements are. I think once Calle is around 190 lbs, more used to the bigger ice he should be at least become an average center.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 9, 2014 Yeah, "supplements.". Not everyone can gain weight though, look at Drew Miller. Agreed. Some guys can only gain so much weight and be effective. Wayne Simmonds is another good example. The guys is 6'2", strong as a bull but weighs a whopping 183 lbs. kipwinger 8,756 Report post Posted November 9, 2014 Lidstrom, Zetterberg and Datsyuk both came into the league around 175 lbs. and got up to 190-195 eventually. It's doable. I don't know if Jarnkrok will, but it's silly to think that Jarnkrok is doomed to be small because he is currently.

T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) I could not gain weight at that age. In my early 20's, I was benching a max of 300#, (dead lifting and squatting a titch more), repping out with 255#, but weighed only 173 @ 5'11". Late 20s I finally bulked up to 185-190. Of course, I didn't have pro access like these guys. Edited November 9, 2014 by T.Low

I know not everyone is the same but if Jarnkrok continues to add muscle and earn experience he should become better

Worst case scenario I see the Jarnkrok trade ending up like Tomas Fleischmann trade. He was a good prospect, is a good NHLer, and is someone who could have probably contributed over the years. Nevertheless, the trade didn't cripple us long term. 3 e_prime, Wheelchairsuperhero and krsmith17 reacted to this
