nawein 324 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 Well, I can live with that. Just seems weird that we draft big forwards and the last two dmen we've added have been 5'9" or shorter.
frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 Leafs are going from one if not the toughest team to an undersized skill one...Can't believe their picks someone should tell Hunter that Babcock likes players that can hang on to the puck. Wtf a 5,9 defender? Wtf
SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 Well he's a right handed shot and looks like he has good offensive skill from his stats, anyway. He is coming over to NA this season (Green Bay) so that'll be telling.
kliq 3,755 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) Nobody is gonna take Chara's contract at his age. But there were definitely ways to shed salary that did not involve Hamilton for sure. Dumping Lucic was a good move. Hamilton, not so much. His cap hit is 6.9 million with 3 years left. I think somebody would have taken that if they thought it could be the difference between being good, or winning the cup. He's not as good as he used to be, but he's still a top pair d-man. Does anyone know if he has a no-trade clause? frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 I just wish there would be one draft where the Wings are fully focused on size just one. It's nice that we are finally drafting bigger kids but the defense needs to be a tougher to play against
LeftWinger 4,963 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 he played in green bay already, he's going back overseas this season...lol at Holland. He is s***ting the bed thus far this draft. 1 frankgrimes reacted to this
Shinzaki 72 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 Crapping the bed? I like the Svechnikov pick a lot...we'll see about Vili Saarijarvi...we have four young Dmen that we need to sort out and it's not like a 3rd round pick is going to step in right away. I have no issue with them taking a guy who projects as a small RH dman that moves the puck well and can help the PP in a few years. 1 DatsyukianDekes reacted to this

I have no issue with them taking a guy who projects as a small RH dman that moves the puck well and can help the PP in a few years. It's not like most of these kids are going to step right I mean even the best player in the whole draft isn't sure if he will make the oilers.I think McKenzie once said that most kids after round 2 are at least 3 years away that's why I would have prefered a safer pick someone who at least can be used as a physical force these boom or bust types are too risky, given the stage of the current team
nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 we should pull a turgeon from last yr and trade the 5th and next years 4th and draft parsells and jaros back to back and help out our d prospects
Shinzaki 72 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 The current state of the team is that we often trip over ourselves trying to clear our zone....I have no issue with developing a small Dman that moves the puck, has an offensive upside and shoots RH. Holland has done pretty well in the 3rd/4th/5th rounds of the draft. I trust his judgement. From Ken Kal on twitter.... Saarijarvi to Svechnikov to Athanasiou.......no problem I love Ken Kal
kliq 3,755 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 So the oilers paid less for a better goalie than Buffalo did,I don't understand why they didn't just wait? Talbot is a UFA after this year. Lehner has 2 years left, then he is an RFA. That's my guess.

nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) lol waste of a pick .. besides the russian kid this draft for me anyways has been a waste Edited June 27, 2015 by nyqvististhefuture
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 I'm not going to judge too early on this draft because Holland and co. have proven successful at the draft table, but I'm not at all impressed so far either. Really haven't addressed and needs in my opinion. Big skilled Russian winger looks good, but undersized defenseman and a goaltender... Not impressed... 1 nyqvististhefuture reacted to this
Shinzaki 72 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 Dallas is going to sign Nieimi to deal with $4 million annually. WTH will the do with Lehtonen and his contract? Are they going to tie up $10 million in cap space on goalies?

nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 Must be amazing to be clairvoyant. last thing we need is a goalie ... we been bitching forever that we need defensemen but we get a 5;9 dman that didnt look good in his short stint at ushl and returned back to finland and now a goalie when some defensemen to be had are still available

Shinzaki 72 Report post Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) Saarijarvi didn't look good in the USHL? You saw him play? He scored at a better than a point per game clip in the U18 worlds (7 GP, 3G ,6A) Edited June 27, 2015 by Shinzaki
