Hank looks really slow!! Why can't babs put him on the wing with pav and just put the kid line back together to create momentum and maybe get zetty going.

If Hank played on a line with Stu Grimson and Tony Twist, he'd still look slow. He looks like Undertaker last year at Wrestlemania.

I guess you don't watch too many Bruins games.

I can't believe Datsyuk would make that kind of pass.

If memory serves the Columbus crew is pretty awful as well. Especially their color guy, (and former Red Wings captain) Danny Gare. I don't think he announces for them anymore though.

Gare was the worst for mispronouncing names or misidentifying players.

He really is. . Terrible pass right to Washington and not ready for the pass from Nyquist on the PP.

I agree 100% on the unforced giveaway to Washington. I think the pass from Nyquist was more on Nyquist putting it too far ahead of Weiss. But my initial post was referring to Weiss who was covering for Smith on D when Smith pinched in to keep the play alive at the half-boards, and Weiss just let the puck-carrying forward skate right past him which lead to a scoring chance.

Like, I know he's offensively capable. But its like he has nothing else to provide besides scoring the occasional goal. If he's pressured along the boards; turnover. If he's pressured at center ice; turnover. He doesn't steal pucks back. He's not smart defensively. He's ineffective as a forechecker. Outside of whenever he scores a goal, I don't notice him in any positive manner. And its so upsetting because I've been rooting for this guy for two years (and still am). If he could even get to be average at protecting the puck and getting involved, he would be so much more effective. But until them I'm scared whenever he's out there that the puck is going to end up in our zone, or our net.

Absolutely agree.

I wish I saw the guy play in Florida so I'd have a better idea if something's changed or if he just was never that sort of player. It's baffling he was a first or second line center.

I'm guessing part of the reason he's playing on the wing is to reduce his defensive responsibility.

He was No.1 center on a team that was essentially a bottom feeder. You can probably get away with that kind of deficit easier when your team as a whole isn't good and/or has other areas that are much more problematic.

I could care less about Weiss defensively. He was brought here to score points and he's not doing that. And I agree with anyone who says that Babcock isn't giving him top 6 minutes. It's a no win situation for either him or Babcock.

It's not like I expect him to shut down Sidney Crosby. I'm talking about his inability to win battles along the boards and maintain puck possession in the offensive zone.

When he has space he's good. In traffic he's usually brutal. He doesn't deserve top 6 minutes.

I guess if he was a total sniper then his floating game would be acceptable because he wouldn't have the puck on his stick very long, but that's certainly not the case.
