Neomaxizoomdweebie 3,083 Report post Posted August 31, 2018 https://www.nhl.com/fans/winter-classic So the NHL has decided to play their Winter Classic Game at Notre Dame Stadium this year. OK. Seems like a good choice. Cold weather city. Large stadium. A university with a decent hockey program. Just one problem: the teams. Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins? I get the Blackhawks. Notre Dame has been associated with the Chicago market for a long time. They're roughly 90 miles apart. Makes sense. But the Bruins? Why? The Irish factor? South Bend is 10 miles from the Michigan border. It's 200 miles from Detroit. Why isn't this a Hawks-Wings game? I can't believe they are having an NHL outdoor game 90 minutes from my house and its the friggin Blackhawks. Have absolutely no interest in going now. Thanks NHL. You're a smart guy; you already know it. The Detroit Red Wings suck. And the Bruins don't. Edited September 1, 2018 by kickazz

LeftWinger 5,131 Report post Posted September 1, 2018 IMO, they should spread it around more. Fine, Notre Dame, Chicago, cool, but instead of having yet another multiple appearance, bring in Columbus, Nashville or Tampa, Florida, Colorado, Dallas...you get it. I'm actually surprised we haven't seen a "SunBelt Series" involving the southern teams. I actually prefer the traditional New Years Eve game.

Any other ideas for teams and venues for the Winter Classic? Vancouver vs. Seattle at Husky Stadium in Seattle Calgary vs. Edmonton at Mosaic Stadium in Regina Chicago vs. Minnesota at Lambeau Field in Green Bay Columbus vs. Pittsburgh at Progressive Field in Cleveland Detroit vs Pittsburgh at Tiger Stadium NY Rangers vs NJ Devils at Metlife Stadium in NJ Rangers vs Bruins at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro Capitals vs Flyers at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore

I doubt the NHL would ever approve this, although it would be cool. I don't care what the corporates call it. It's still Tiger Stadium to me. 1 LeftWinger reacted to this
kylee 727 Report post Posted September 2, 2018 Didn’t Anaheim play San Jose in a stadium series game just a couple years ago? It looked weird on TV to see what was clearly a warm night play host to hockey outside lol

Mckinley25 679 Report post Posted September 3, 2018 They likely mean it in the past tense modal correctly written as “would have.” I suspect you know that though as it’s a common grammatical mistake derived from it’s contraction, which is phonetically identical.
