Time for our dream on dream on mocks

This banter reminds me of the good old days! I remember when I used to lose it on draft day! People used to come here just to watch! (I admit I was a tad upset last year with the Kasper pick, really wanted Savioe, but it only lasted a few posts.)

On subject, without trading up, I've seen some mocks with Detroit taking Danielson, Willander and (if he falls) Reinbacher with the #9. Knowing Yzerman though, it'll be somebody totally different! I've been pretty occupied the last couple of seasons, so I can honestly say I really don't know too much about anyone outside of Bedard (oh, and the names I've seen on NHL23!)

The latest mock from Kimelman and Morreale

https://www.nhl.com/news/mock-2023-nhl-draft-connor-bedard-adam-fantilli-top-picks/c-344826764

We get either Zach Benson or Oliver Moore at #9

and at #17 either Barlow or Simashev.

I have a feeling it'll be Willander or Reinbacher, whichever one is left. But then again, I read some stuff about Danielson if he was still there. Dunno...

Pretty crazy draft from the staff at Athletic.

And todays prospect rankings and more

Yzerman moving up to #5 for #9 and #17 ?

Interesting that apparently Yzerman is thought of wanting Michkov.

Read the scouting report on Michkov…

“Michkov is one of the very best first-year draft eligibles I've ever seen from inside the offensive blue line. He has truly special offensive skill and hockey sense. His mind operates differently from other players in how he sees the play develop and he always seems to find ways to figure into scoring chances despite not being the biggest or fastest. His mind is special, but he's freakishly skilled with the puck too, and can make elite stickhandling plays seem routine. He can make plays at a high level, but Michkov is a finisher who will score a lot of goals as a pro. His skating is more elusive than fast and I wouldn't call him a high-compete type either. He’s signed in the KHL through the 2025-26 season, but he projects as a game-breaking elite scoring winger in the NHL.”

Am I the only one who thinks of Zadina when reading the above?

Michkov also intends to play the next 3 seasons in the KHL according to his agent last month. I'm thinking Yzer wants a guy he can use in 2024-25.

Given what’s going on with the war between Ukraine and Russia I’d say it’s best to avoid Russian born/trained players.

Getting upset is good; it means you have a pulse!

The mocks are all over the place re: the Wings, as you'd expect. Personally, I'd be thrilled with Danielson and Willander, though I reckon we'd have to trade up from 17 if we want both.

I would hope SY doesn't move up for Michkov.   Kid looks great, but in the cozy confines of our NA rinks, I'm having a hard time not picturing this kid getting injured all the time.   I'm getting antsy.  Draft is only two weeks away.

He won't.

The 17thOA will used for the pick itself or in a trade for a "get better now" type. Not to move up and grab a player that may or may not help in 4 years.

I want (3) RHD with our first 3 picks.

Reinbacher

Willander

Allen

Stocking the D cupboard would be epic.

Reinbacher is the next Brad Stuart. Hard pass.

Willander is good. Sandin-Pelikka is better.

Beau Akey is the best.

Super high floor. Super low cieling. Youre getting an almost guaranteed NHL player, but hes not really good at aything besides positional defense. He'll be a low scoring 2nd pair key that never wows you but is acceptable. Kinda like Brad. Safe choice. Id rather go hard n fast.

Stuart is a guy this team can use - especially if/when the Wings make the playoffs.

I'd gladly take him.

This sounds like EXACTLY what/who we need paired with Edvinsson behind Seider/Walman.  A guy that allows Edvinsson to skate up and down the ice, covers up mistakes, and doesnt cost a lot.  You have this guy pegged perfectly, but you dont see that he fills a position of need.

Not at nr 9 tho

No way he's there at 9, but we should take him if he is.

We camt have (7) D that all make 9 million a year.  People forget that the best defensemen on a team sometimes are the Fetisovs and Rouses that stop the goals from going in and dont cost as much as the Lidstroms and Murphys that help the goals go in.
