Steve, Scott from LetsGoWings.  We just saw Ottawa punk the team again and make the organization look like a powderpuff foitball team for the third time in 4 games.  Are you planning on addressing the team's lack of a spine and reluctance to stand up for themselves?  And when do you plan to have somebody in the organization that can actually protect the star players now that you have a few?  It appears Seider and Chiarot dont think they need to do that.

I wish I could still indulge in either indica or a sativa strain.  

 

Scott's point still holds though.   Joseph crosschecked Larkin in the head and even the refs reveiwing thought it was only worth a minor.  WTF?

Perron to his credit nailed what's his muff in the head, *** for tat, dumb or not I don't care.   He responded.   After last years crap show and the offseason additions we had, I thought we would be a little tougher in response.

 

My solution?     Ottawa sucks azz and deserve a beat down.    When EdDog (finally) comes up, he can show Seider how to murder Stutzle and Tkachuk legally.

I respect this opinion. But you can’t construct a roster designed for beat-downs. For example, Ryan Reaves scares no one, has not prevented some key injuries (see Marchand on Liljegren) and takes up almost 2M in cap space. Oh and he can’t skate at all. 
 

I think a healthy team with Kostin and Edvinsson in the line up will def help so your solution is valid.

I must be honest - I feel for Sens Dman Zub...He didn't deserve that crosscheck...I mean I get where Perron's heart is at, but that was f-ing brutal and he'll earn every game of the upcoming suspension.

Wrong.  He DID deserve it.  The entire sens team had OBVIOUSLY been told to give it to Larkin.  2 cross checks by 2 different players in a row.  This wasnt an accident.  This was premeditated bullshet.  How many times do we need to watch Ottawa beat us up before we change something?  50?  Edvinsson?  Come on.  He's a 20 year old giant teddy bear.  We need to abandon the score for a game against yhe Sens and HURT a few of their to guys.  Sucks, but the sens are askung for it.  Fire with fire.  Get a goon, and let him loose on one of their better defensemen.  Then have some call up like Czarnik give Stutzle a nice 2 hand slash across his arm and break it.  That's how a team with a backbone deals with a situation like this.  That's how we started winning cups back in 97.  Not "thank you, may I have another."

I agree we can not have a roster full of goons, but on the other hand we can not have a roster full of guys who just stand by and watch while their captain has his head taken off.  

Everyone on the ice should have lost it when they saw Larkin go down. You grab the closest guy to you and send a message that you are a teal that won't be bullied. 

It may cost you in that game, but it could go a long way in future games. I'd rather have 3-4 guys kicked out in one game, but not take cheap shots every other game for the foreseeable future. 

There has to be a midpoint from where we are now and a roster for beat-downs.

Dude, if we were playing our draft picks, I'd argue the team is top 5 talent wise.  We are playing 4 shet defenders and 3 shet goalies tho.  That's Yzerman's fault.  But that has NOTHING to do with the team having zero character.  As Rick said, Perron was the ONLY red wing that did anything after 2 guys from Ottawa gave Larkin a crosscheck with one intentionally to his head.  This team needs to grow a set or it doesnt matter how good we are.  Are we going to forfeit games to Ottawa going forward so we dont have our 8 million dollar players get smacked around?  Thr organization's lack of response to this is disgusting, tbh.

If none of the three goalies are very good, and they aren't, then what's the difference between rotating three s***ty goalies and rotating two s***ty goalies? The roster spot it still better used on a player that can help us win games, not one that's sitting in the press box every night. Berggren can (and does) score goals. Right now we need those more than having James Reimer playing every fourth game.

If we relied more on our younger players from GR - Detroit would probably be sub .500 right now...
