trending that way ...or so I thought then looked a standings

If they reset and gather a few wins still hold between 2 - 5 point lead over the chasers. Everyone is at 53 except Sheetsburgh who would be 1 behind if they win the 2 in hand(worst case). I said starting with the first Nucks game this stretch would decide and right now sitting at 0-2-1 with Flames, Kraken, Avs @home after trip. Come home 2-2-1 and still playing for April in the D.

Ok, we played ok last night.  I can stomach our effort level last night.  HOWEVER, the Chiarot and Petry pairing has got to be dismantled, and both players need their minutes significantly reduced.  Chiarot turns the puck over in the opening 5 minutes leading to a point blank chance that Lyon saves.  Then Petry turns it over FOR NO REASON 5 minutes later and Vancouver slaps one in.  Right now, we're not giving ourselves a chance to beat good teams because we're not icing an optimal lineup.  Thanks unacceptable.  Edvinsson needed to be with us this entire season, but it's ABSURD at this point not to have him playing.  Take out Petry and put in Edvinsson.  Instant shot in the arm for the team.  Then when ASP gets done with his SHL season, get him in for Chiarot.  Another instant shot in the arm for the team.  We need guys that know how to skate.  Chiarot and Petry are pylons.  They've got to be brought to a last resort status soon, or we're heading for the draft lottery.

I'm concerned about the last two games only insofar as the race for the Wild Card is tight and we need the points. Otherwise I'm not really all that concerned about losing to a couple of the best teams in the league, one of which we beat a week ago and the other we took to overtime last month. We're a good team, but not a perfect one. In order for us to take the next step I think a few things need to happen:

1. David Perron should be on the team, but he absolutely shouldn't be in the top six. The Kane-Compher-Perron line gives away too much defensively to play significant minutes. We need a top six winger, ideally a power winger.

2. Our 2nd defensive pair needs completely revamped. I think Chiarot "could" be on that pair with someone like Chychrun or Hanifin, but Petry can't. Improving this pair does two things, 1) minimizes the mistakes the current pair makes, and 2) lightens the load on the top pair. Both things would help a great deal.

3. At the very least we need a 2nd Alex Lyon type goalie. We cannot ask him to play like he did last month for the remainder of the season.

If we can't solve these three issues we might still make the playoffs, but we're certainly not going to beat the very best teams.

And guess who we'll be playing in Rd 1.

In my mind Yguy has 2 logical choices.

1. Go big boi and address  1,2,3 above

2. If he can't swing that sheite he needs to fold up the beach chair and trade Perron, Ghostisbehere , Kane, and Sprong

Not doing anything is unacceptable IMO

Totally agree. He's going to have to make a big time decision at the deadline and I think it's going to be MUCH harder than a year ago. Some of the solutions to those problems might come from inside the organization (Edvinsson in particular) but if he's not going to address the others then why bother? Fold your hand and strengthen it before next year.

That said, losing over and over and over again is terrible for any organization. I don't think it's a great idea to toss in our cards this year for a 16th OA pick.

Yup. I have no idea what he'll do.

Hopefully some crazy GM will make it easier for him

I'd attempt to sign Kane and Sprong, if they're a no or unreasonably expensive... then yes add them to the sale.

It would be nice if he could swing a "hockey trade" and land Hanafin or Markstrom, etc someone who's a clear upgrade and that we want for 2-8 seasons.  That's very hard at the deadline but doable for SY.

WHY am I the only guy that wants to see Simon Edvinsson?  Seriously - F V C K Hanafin and Markstrom.  You guys act like our farm system is weak right now.  It isnt.  We have the tools required.  Our genius GM and Mensa qualified coach just wont let the fans see them.

I want Hanafin in place this year and Edvinsson next season and the crowd of mediocre 7th defenseman thinned to 1.

I was disappointed with the Maatta extension because of what it could potentially mean for Edvinsson.  I was also disappointed with the Gostisbehere signing because of what it meant for Edvinsson

Ghostbear will be replaced by Edvinsson next year.

McIsaac and Johansson will replace Maata and Petry the season after that.

2025-26 season:

Walman - Seider
Edvinsson - Chiarot
Johansson - Holl
McIsaac

With ASP and, Wallinder knocking on the door, ready to take over for Chiarot and Holl the following season.

The transition plan looks nice.

I think the thing I've really been trying to impress upon everyone this season, and I will again now, is that this was the LAST year of stop-gaps like Chiarot, Holl, Maata, Sprong, Kane, Perron, ect ect.

Next season our core becomes high dollar (Seider, Raymond, Rasmussen, Veleno) and we can no longer afford willy nilly stop gaps like SY has enjoyed so far. We will not be able to afford both Kane and Sprong. We will have to start using prospects to supplement the roster.

This is fine because we have the prospects...

Next year is a big turning point for this team. This is why I want to sell again. Our window is not open enough to make Seider and Raymond the ELC's we exploit for value. But soon our window will be open enough to do this with Kasper, Danielson, ASP, and so on.

Patience patience patience
