#2436448 Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

Posted by thegerkin on 13 September 2013 - 06:55 AM

This is NOT a Stanley Cup pushing roster so why not see what the young guns can do and off-load the vets?

Really? This team was a goal away from the Conference Finals while rebuilding on the fly and has improved quite a bit with the new additions (Alfie, Weiss) while keeping the core of Kronner, Z, Pavs, Ericsson and Howard. This is a better roster than last season, especially for guys like Gus, Andy, Deke who have basically doubled their NHL experience, including playoffs.

I always thought the beginning of this song...

Anyone who knows who The Flatliners are (they're from Brampton, Ont.) gets my vote for goal song

#2417192 2013 Detroit Red Wings Eulogy

Posted by thegerkin on 02 June 2013 - 07:56 PM

Lame attempt at a "funny" eulogy. Ripping on Hockeytown? This from the team that dresses like the yellow Voltron character? Ripping on Miller's hair, really? Beating the "how many cups" phrase into the ground. Possibly one of the worst "eulogies" I've had the displeasure of reading. See you in the funny papers Nashville.

One month before the playoffs, all I wanted was the 22 year playoff streak to continue. And 14 intense playoff games later, I'm happy. With an OT loss in Game 7 (which was brutal) against the #1 team, I can only be happy that we got to see them play in big games and gain valuable playoff experience. Great season boys! Can't wait until training camp! :)

Usually I can tune out NBC announcers, but I had to mute the entire game because of all the mouth-loving for Chicago

Pierre: "You're right on Edzo" Edzo: "Hey, you're a homer too?" Pierre: "You got that right Edzo. I remember when Edzo playing in Nigeria for the Lack of Water club".

Ah Taves (yeah, piss on that garbage name Toews). What a poised captain. As he and Z were talking to the ref, it's ok for Taves to slash Z (albeit minor) while whining to the ref. I certainly can imagine Stevie Y or Lids doing this all the time, because pissing and moaning makes you captain material.

I wonder what kind of pathetic, sheepish display we'll see from the two of you if the Wings win the series.

Sorry, I guess that was misunderstood. I was thinking in more of a statistical manner. The whole "80%+ of the winners of Game 5 will win the series" is a very steep hill to climb. Add to that, Detroit would have to win Games 6 (Detroit) and 7 (Anaheim). I just don't think this team was built for anything past the first series this year (and the injuries were incredibly ridiculous). I think our team is moving in the right direction quite clearly and our depth is fantastic. The rooks have been great considering the situation. So little Playoff experience for about 1/3 of the team. I would easily eat crow if the Wings get to the second round because I would be so stoked because we get at minimum of 4 exciting Playoff games guaranteed. HOPE I'm wrong and the Wings overcome the odds. I mean, they have earned Playoff rights like the other 15 teams. Just an opinion of mine. :)
