I decided to pull out the dvd of the game, watching it again. Here are some of my observations of a great hockey game... Pushor vs. Severyn - Pushor has no idea what he's doing. Severyn starts it but Jamie doesn't get much but thrown to the ice. Sakic butt ends and holds Yzerman blatently then trips him...old time hockey? Federov is on defence. He goes end to end like his first name's Bobby. Oh, and he stands out kinda like Datsyuk does now, its wild to see these guys in their primes again. Valerie Kamensky scores the first goal. Beautiful, top shelf one-timer off the draw. A big scrum a few minutes later leads to a tussle between Maltby and Corbet. Maltby was theoretically 'fighting'...weird. The highlight: Murphy and Kieth Jones wrestling a bit. FSN vs Versus! Apparently Colorado had won the last four And seven of nine. The guy doing the game with Mickey on PASS sports is annoying. Almost all of our players could hit and fight. Konstantinov, Pushor, Shanahan, Ward, Knuble, LaPointe, McCarty, Maltby... Holmstrom #15 Knuble's 1st NHL game. Then IT happens... I'm still blown away that Forsberg/Larionov sets it off. The play by play guy is talking like its no big deal throughout. Mickey hasn't said anything halfway through, wth. McCarty knees Lemieux in the head when he's on the boards. Vernon/Roy is vicious. I love the off their feet hit between Shanahan and Roy. Kamensky and Lidstrom had each other, never knew that. Marc Crawford looks like he's 27. Vernon's helmet is classic. Deadmarsh/Konstantinov. A whole :30 seconds later. Mickey: "Sticks, gloves, arms, elbows up..." And that was just the first period!!!

Jo. Staal punch, Prust gets shot

A dumbass reaction to a clean hit, give him the 4 games, fake or no-fake this doesn't belong in the game. Im sick of players getting pissy over a clean hit. I think a intent to injure needs to be claimed every time this happens. Just because I hate all things Penguins, because of the hype, i hope Prust gets his revenge. Maybe just sucker punch Crosby and start the concussion train.

Awww...I'm so sorry you don't agree. Obviously, other people on this site have a chance to be Wings GM, but I don't. Or maybe my chances were completely ruined with my post. Guess I'll just have to live with that.

Detroit's already been in a Winter Classic, let other teams have it first.

Prust got away with the league under debate about head... Anything? Eager? I have been youtubing Probie and Kocer fights. I think that is a punk move to the way the fella's used to square up. In my opinion Eager pulls a bertuzzi without the injury.

Looked worse than it was. Good on OV for stepping up in the neutral zone though. PK had better keep his head up, there are a good few people who people would like to do that and more to him.

A+ to this above. The "situation" may not be the best but the Super Bowl got great reviews (MUCH better than Jacksonville did) and there is really a ton of events in and around the city quite often. I work down here and obviously it is really not the best of places, but bringing the Winter Classic down here to Comerica would actually be a great remedy for our "situation". Only a plus for the businesses and all of that. I am for it.

I can tell you guys spend a lot of time in Detroit......And at any rate like some have mentioned already we've successfully had a Super Bowl and other events and besides if the winter classic can be held in Buffalo it sure as hell can be held in Detroit..

    Observations from March 26th, 1997

In that recent interview with Mac and Claude together for the first time... Claude was talking over the events and mentioned how Mac kneed him. Mac kind of smirked and went "yeah... I did do that."

I would also like to point out during that fight that Mac kneed Claude right in the face when the refs held them against the boards. He got absolutely rocked.

a game like that will never happen again in the NHL, all of these players would be suspended and the fun ruined for everyone. slowly softening hockey up, sickens me.

    Observations from March 26th, 1997

2nd period. Foote/Shanahan, again. PASS guy - "that took exactly four seconds" This makes me miss what Shanahan brought to our team. 19:25 - 2 on 1, Sandstrom and Federov, Federov scores like Roy is a child. LaPointe attacks Kieth Jones, gets the only penalty. Shanahan, McCarty, LaPointe and maybe more in the box... Kamensky scores again, on the PP. Colorado has like five or six 20+ goal scorers, headed by...wait for it...Adam Deadmarsh. Ozolinsh leads all d-man in goals. Yzerman is intense, he probably doesn't smile until we win. Kozlov and LaPointe 2 on 1. LaPointe scores on a beautiful saucer pass from Slava. Keane/Holmstrom - Keane was wailin' , Ward/Severyn - Severyn is a beast. Mickey - "What a donney brook!" It's only been four minutes into the 2nd.

    Thoughts on Salei

He's been a very good signing with money not factored and he's been a GREAT signing when you factor in his caphit... A steadying force on the back end that can play more situations and minutes when needed, but fills the #6 role perfect... I have been very happy with him and would welcome him back with open arms for next season...
