I believe this is a must win game. Only reason is that our home record is not nearly good enough and we need our opponents to have the fear they used to have going into the JLA.

That's exactly the point, even right now when he's only scoring at the pace he is you're just flat out wrong. Trust me, no one is trying to convince you to like him. You, and any one else, can dislike whomever you want. No one will tell you any different. But when posters come on here and blindly ignore facts and start screaming their heads off about how he's lazy and he sucks it's ridiculous. You can hate him all you want but when you can't admit how well he's doing right now it just shows your ignorance.

Another team the wings do not do good against. But i think after the last game theyre going to have a good game. win !

Thanks HT! Was getting worried there for a second. Let's rebound from the last game. Wins are more fun I have found so lets go ahead and start a new streak. No predictions as I will be there but a solid 60 minutes and maybe a hatty. Just win!

1st in wins 28th in SV% 31st GAA These stats, for any goalie would lead me to believe: This goalie is starting too many games, this goalie has a GREAT team in front of him, this goalie is easily replaceable due to the team in-front of him. Take the name of the player and I feel you'll come to the exact same conclusion I have.

For crying out loud, I called him inconsistent, not terrible. Calm yourself.

Posters on this board are never happy. Take a look at Holmstrom's stat lines from the last 4 years (including this years). For what he has earned and the number of games he has played he has been well worth it. On top of that think of how much goals he has created and not been credited with a point (through screens, driving the net, puck retrieval etc.) 2007-2008 Red Wings GM 59 G 20 A 20 PTS 40 +/- 9 2008-2009 Red Wings GM 53 G 14 A 23 PTS 37 +/- 18 2009-2010 Red Wings GM 68 G 25 A 20 PTS 45 +/- 5 2010-2011 Red Wings GM 51 G 12 A 14 PTS 26 +/- -1 Now poster's want to complain that Zetterberg isn't potting as many goals as he should be. That is absurd. He is getting paid to create goals - whether he is the guy putting the puck in the net or assisting on them. That's on top of being a leader of this team and being one of the premier two way players in the league. He is on pace for: GM 82 G 24 A 65 PTS 89 +/- +10 Yeah, we'd all love if he scored more goals but 86 pts would be his second most productive season in his career. Not to mention that he put this team on his back while Datsyuk was injured. He is currently 5th in the NHL in scoring (pts) and 3rd in the NHL assists. He is one of the best leaders in the game and yet posters are 'irked' by him. Posters are still hating on Hudler despite his turn around from his terrible start to the regular season. He has now registered 22 pts (5 g, 17 a) in his last 25 games and during that stretch he is a +8. So many posters here attribute his success completely to Datsyuk's return which is completely unfair. Prior to Datsyuk's return Hudler had 12 pts (3 g, 9 a) in 17 games. Obviously Datsyuk deserves some credit has since his return Hudler has put up 10 pts (2g, 8 a) in 8 games and we should all be pumped about that but there are so few people on this site that give players credit where credit is due.

Even taking into account how well Hudler has been playing lately, if you don't think Hemsky would be an upgrade over Hudler I don't believe the ensuing conversation would really be necessary.

I think it's ridiculous how people expect perfection from Howard. I don't think many here watch enough games of other teams to realize that every goaltender has bad games, and not every goaltender is a team-saver. If you want a goaltender who will save your arse every game, pay for someone like Luongo or Vokoun... and I mean pay. Howard does just fine when the defense gives him a chance to win, just like Osgood, and he has stolen games this season. That some people expect him to be perfect in every situation is just a symptom of the spoiled attitude quite a few Red Wings have when it comes to the team. Also puzzling to me is the sort of rebound effect people have when it comes to Howard. If he struggles for a few games, then people get "He's not playing well enough!" into their heads, and suddenly many people start calling every single goal either weak or his fault. When Howard was giving up three goals per game at times in the season, people ignored the goals that weren't his fault and started acting as if every single game in which he gave up three goals was one in which he should have been able to limit that number, regardless of if he was hung out to dry at times. And because he has subpar rebound control, some people start claiming that every single rebound he gives up is one that he should have had. It's insane. I once saw somebody on here lay into him for failing to control a rebound on a wraparound shot taken from less than a foot away from him. I don't get it.

Too bad it was late, because that was a gorgeous hit. Sucks Bartulis got hurt, but I honestly don't think it was worth 2 games.

Jolly and Dragon, put the bong down. Hes lucky he didn't kill that guy. No d-man in the right mind would try to take that puck away from the goalie with 3 guys on the fore check. They would always let him freeze that. Maybe your confusing Bartulis for putting his stick down in front of the goalies glove to potentially block any poke check coming from a fore checker to prevent the puck coming free. That is a much more common play than trying to play it. Cheap shot all day.

Ummm what? I've never seen a guy get crushed like that after a goalie covered the puck. So no, it doesn't happen all the time. Not to mention, the player here was a defender, he wasn't a guy on the offense who was whacking away at the goalie. I've never seen an attacking player from a rush do that to the defending teams defender, it's usually the other way around where a defender is clearing the net. I'd love for you to prove me wrong though and show me instances like this, where an attacking player ends a guys season with a hit after the puck has been covered.

Excellent point. Howard wouldn't be winning s*** if not for this team. We're not winning because of him, but in spite of him and his meager stats.

Today's waiver wire: Rivet, Svatos, Colliton, Zherdev. Kotalik on recall waivers. Rivet is a $3.5 million cap hit with just this year left. Vancouver?
