Per Bill Daly - Salary Cap

Remember how fun the NHL was before the sarlary cap? We'll never see epic trades anymore like the Shanahan's, Roy's, Lindros'... instead we are stuck with boring / drama-less NHL (small trades). I blame the salary cap.

Per Darren Dreger's Twitter: "In an hour or so, the Detroit Red Wings will announce veteran asst coach Brad McCrimmon won't be back for a 4th year on the Wings bench."

Unfortunately I don't have anything done fitting the latest topics, but I just wanted to dust off some old ones. (I've got nothing against Crosby, this was actually inspired by the numerous Crosby threads here)

My crusade? Excuse me? I'm just asking why in 4 pages no one answered the original question. I've seen the commercial. You do see Sidney highlighted. If the rest of the world would like to post for another 4 pages of Sidney-bashing with a sprinkling of Sidney-love and a few hissy fits thrown in, that's cool with me. I was just wondering why Crosby, which was the actual topic of this thread. I am not on a crusade. Stop putting words in my mouth and acting like this is all my doing. I am not the OP. Excuse me for actually discussing the question put forth.

Show me a clip and maybe I'll join your "zomg Crosby getting moar attention rage" crusade. That's a lie. Even if his is the only name showing, who cares?

Stop it. Stop playing dumb. You know what you get yourself into in here regarding this person or subject, don't even kid yourself otherwise. Do not play the "It's not my fault" or the "But I'm innocent!" game here. It's happened over and over and over again and you go nuts when people react negatively towards you. Well, maybe you have something to do with that as well, not just other people's reactions.

Let Salei and Ericsson seek other employment and pursue Wisniewski hard and Babchuk as insurance. That'll limit Kindl's numbers, but it keeps Smith in GRR for another full season of 30+ minute hockey...

    Derek Boogaard found dead

I don't see the league touching this at all. They likely just want it to go away, because it's not a huge leap from concussion to depression to substance abuse to death. It's just a grim reminder of how hard making a living getting punched in the head can be.

I like to eliminate factors that don't support my arguments too.

IMO...talented and really good players do it for 5+ years. I think consistency and longevity are the trademarks of truely great players. Furthermore, to be considered the most "talented player of all time", I believe your looking at guys that did "it" for 10+, 15+ seasons. I used to hear the same chatter about players being the "most talented", or could be "greatest of all time" and ultimately end up not even being close. LaFontaine, Lindros, Pavel Bure, D. Hatcher (touted as the best complete package looking size and skill for a D man of All Time...granted that was ESPN and it was pre-CBA), Forsberg, Yashin, Bertuzzi (back in the days with Vanc...used to be touted all the time that he may be the best Power Forward of all time), ....you get the point. None of these players would get on anyone's radar for making anyones "All Time" SHORT list (at least if your sane). Unless you consistently perform year-in year-out, and do this for 10, 15+ seasons....I don't think you'll ever be considered as the best, greatest, most talented, of all time. Let's see where Sid is in 5 seasons....then the conversation may be relevant. edit: spelling

No, because if Crosby is done, now we will hear that he's the greatest to ever play the game if only he could have finished his career. Whereas if he finished his career everyone would realize he's just a talented player but not nearly the greatest.

There are a lot of players who stop skating once their team is eliminated from the playoffs

In case some people don't recognize me, I'm a Blues fan that has spent some time on your forum because I like to talk hockey with knowledgeable fans. I also would like to say that your team deserves a ton of credit for that spirited battle in the Sharks series. I know it sucks to lose (look what team I follow), but you should take consolation that the Sharks are run-down and about to be taken out permanently. Back to the topic at hand. Every year Blues fans say that the Wings dominance is coming to an end because they're getting older, Lidstrom will soon be finished, lack of goaltending, etc, but it never happens. I have to think that my team is going to have a big year, and if Berglund, Oshie, Petro, Shattenkirk, and Halak take the next step, look out. We also have a Russian coming in named Tarasenko that's been hyped like no future Blue I've ever seen before. Our future truly is as bright as ever. On the down side, Oshie has off-ice issues, Perron may not be back, and I'm not sold on Halak personally. What I would like to know is how you fans feel about your current personnel and the farm system. Will the NHL continue to see Detroit dominate, or are they running out of gas? Just curious to hear what you guys have to say and maybe how you feel about the Blues and their future.
