    Ranking NHL Broadcasters

That is, quite frankly, the worst ******* list I've ever seen. As an aspiring broadcaster, that makes me embarrassed that someone is allowed to comment and rate broadcasters when he has no clue about the subject at hand. He rates the St Louis Blues and the Phoenix Coyotes broadcasts as 4 stars, those are the worst broadcast teams in the NHL. Bernie Federko and Tyson Nash are the worst color guys in the league, I'd take 3 Pierre McGuires over them anyday of the week. Then we got TERRY CRISP AND WHATS HIS f***IN NAME AS A 5 STAR BROADCAST TEAM. These guys are a disgrace to the game, there boring rants, awful voices and all around no knowledge of hockey whatsoever. (Actually, Crisp is an intelligent hockey mind, but an awful broadcaster) Makes me sick. Daniels is one of the best broadcasters in the league, Murph and Mickey are funny and insightful. Homers? Sure, a bit, but every announcer for a team is a homer. Kinda there ******* job you morons, and they are one of the better home broadcasts in the league. f*** this list, the writer knows nothing about broadcast journalism, or for that matter, hockey.

Well I wouldn't want him to talk from his silence, so that seems reasonable.

I can't believe he gave that bald announcer for the Sharks a good review. That guy is one of the biggest homer idiots in the league.

What is sad is making time and costing money to have a court case regarding something of this nature in the first place, something so miniscule to other crimes.

Oh, okay, so they're mostly chewing out Mickey and Murph...I can see that. I was going to say, "Gosh, I can see how Mickey might not be a favorite with non-fans, but how can you badmouth Ken?" Answer: they didn't. Murph makes you go "huh?" at first, but once you figure out he's plastered, it's a friggin' ball listening to him. Mickey's just a really big personality...you either like him or you don't, I guess. I can't believe they would give any broadcast including Eddie Olczyk more than one star...I'll take Mickey's tall tales over Olczyk's herp de derp any day. I do agree that the Kings announcers are great and that the Ducks guys are infuriating, though.

First thing I thought when I saw the list was: The guy who wrote this is clearly an ass clown. Nothing to lose sleep over.

It would be awesome if when he scores a goal or gets a huge hit they play "I adore my 64, my Commodore 64" I can guarantee you that people would sing along. It would be absolutely amazing for fan spirit and the overall vibe of the team.

I'll go on record to say that Commodore 64 is just straight up funny, and I say why the hell not? The article above seems really uptight to me. What the hell is wrong with a little fun? Anyone remember this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br0bBXtABXs Having a few laughs does not equal not taking the franchise seriously,

We can hope can we not?

Let's look at it like this: The Blues sold out all 19,150 seats at Scottrade Center 41 of 41 times last season. (ESPN) The Blues are 11.5 million under the cap thus far. (capgeek) The Blues are probably some postseason success away from frenzy-ing the populace in STL since the cardinals are standing to lose Pujols and inevitably slide, plus the rams are still sucking. The Blues probably aren't bleeding money. The team was bought, mostly, on a loan of $120 million (or 80% of the final sale price) which was written in 2006, prior to the housing bubble burst. Checketts and Co. probably are getting pressure from CitiGroup (bailout anyone?) to pay back. So Hulsizer pulls out of the deal with Phoenix because the details on that get sketchier by the minute. St Louis is a solid team with a fanbase established, and money ready to be printed. After all, Hulsizer wasn't planning on buying a team to move like Balsille or TNSE. It boils down to this: Get a stable owner who is willing to use some $. Get the tickets to a reasonable price level to sustain the team somewhat, because if they're bleeding 10-15 million a year (one post on that thread in the link) while still being that much under the cap, what are they selling tickets for? 50 cents?

If this was true, however, why is Eddie Olczyk allowed to do Chicago and Pittsburgh games?

And how many on that list of so-called "Good announcers" are going to be in the Hall of Fame for their broadcasting talents? I'll take Ken and Mick over any of those other clowns. Hell, those tools in Nashville can't even pronounce names properly or even identify the players correctly half the time.

I think Holland is saving money for opportunity. Maybe not Doughty exclusively, but for any opportunity. Who knows, maybe Preds want to move Suter before deadline, or 'Yotes decide to offer a trade for 'Yandle.. I think if you have cap space at trade deadline, high-quality players can be had at very reasonable prices.

Brilliant! Red Wings can carry 12 forwards and 7 defensemen. Blashill can be assistant coach and backup goalie.

The reaction to E's contract was very similar to the reaction of Datsyuk's, and we all know how that turned out. If you want a good laugh, I dug up some reactions when Datsyuk signed in '07...

One thing I always liked about Wisniewski is that he lives and dies for his team no matter where he is. the Seabrook hit is a good example. He took out one of his best friends for his team. He buys into systems, defends his teammates, and is an all around loyal guy, whether its the habs or the BJ's lol. His rights got traded to Columbus, they gave him an offer he couldn't refuse, and he hopped on the BJ's bandwagon and didn't look back, it's as simple as that. If Gionta looked at Nash the wrong way tomorrow Wizniewski would prolly lay him out. I respect that kind of team dedication. Its just to bad he'll be in Columbus...were gonna be tanglin with him alot prolly
