Babs sets defense pairings for camp

It's not like these won't be mixed up a million times during the season. I predict that when Wings play Leafs in the Cup finals next summer Lidström will be paired with Commodore.

Not to worry! If they do it more than once, Holland will promptly and decisively trade them away or outright release them. In other news, I'm going to try to get tickets to opening week of the Providence Bruins, with new acquisition Jamie Tardif...

Thompson has done a great job but it's apples and oranges at this point. Mayhew was given an 0-16 team with Calvin and Backus as the only legitimate starters. In 3 years under Mayhew, in Pioli-like fashion, he's done great into turning garbage into mid-late picks and providing solid depth on the roster (finally) as well as making some key FA signings. I shutter at the players that Millen thought was good enough to compete at a high level but in reality would be 2nd-3rd backups. I'm now at the point where I expect this team to win. They proved to me last season that they had the talent to keep it close but was without experience to get over the hump. This season I think they get over the hump, but are still 1-3 years away from being contenders considering they still have a bad line and the LeShoure injury could take him 2 years to be 100% or it could affect his play for the rest of his career (I'm hoping for the former obviously). The secondary looks solid, but is nowhere near what GB has. So all in all, there's still areas of improvement, but I don't think they're that far off from contending the division like you think they are. After all, we lost a heartbreaker in Lambeau last season and got revenge the second time. Oh, and no injury excuses, our 3rd string QB beat you!

    Will Ericsson Earn His Raise?

That's more based on the timing of the deal than a performance indicator. Kronwall and Stuart will easily surpass Ericsson next summer.

He better start punching people in the face on a more regular basis, because he doesn't seem to be good at anything else.

    Will Ericsson Earn His Raise?

He damn well better earn his raise this year, cause as it stands right now, he is so ******* insanely overpaid with his new contract, its not even funny.

    Will Ericsson Earn His Raise?

On the numbers...... He's played in North America for 5 years. First season was with GR in 2006-2007. They've been exclusively "teaching" him either in GR or up with the Wings for 5 years. Fairly quickly?? Pronger was also 20 years old in his third season....not 27! His third year in the NHL was 1995-1996. At 27 he statistically should be in his prime. If what we've seen so far is any indication of his prime, then he is way over-paid! Flat out.

    Will Ericsson Earn His Raise?

He would have to make a total 180 degree turn in play for him to justify this contract. I truly hated this deal from day 1 and wanted the kid gone, the leash better be shorter than Verne Troyer rain boots... Let the Big E irritation station commence. I have been quite late to the party on this one but no one can justify this kind of $ for what he did/didn't do last year.

That's debatable. I debate it in my own head all the time. lol Based on awards and accomplishments, Lidstrom has to be considered one of the best of all time. However, Yzerman was in his prime at the same time as Lemieux and Gretzky. He missed out on a lot of scoring titles and MVPs because of that and was viewed as 3rd best back then. Would Lidstrom have been as successful if he played in his prime during the same time as Bobby Orr and Doug Harvey? Plus, Yzerman played 10 years without Scotty Bowman as coach. Lidstrom was very fortunate to always be on a talented, Cup contending team. So while, Lidstrom is a better player in terms of awards won and accomplishments, I think saying he's more talented is an illusion. Stevie definitely had a greater impact on the franchise than Nick. BTW, how nice is it to have a problem like this where we have too many great players and we can't decide on who's the best? lol

    Jonathan Toews Bodychecks a Child

Clearly raised his elbow and targeted the head. The exact type of hit that should have no place in hockey. Classless.

How big is your house or apartment? I assume not more than a max of 150 square feet, evevn that seems a bit excessive, no? Do you own more than a couple very basic outfits of clothing? I assume you also don't own a car either, correct? Wait...why are you on the internet right now? My point? Shut the f*** up you hypocrite. You live a gluttonous life of essentially unnessessary excess, just like the rest of us. Dumbass.

Title says it all. Everyone is back in Detroit skating, training and working out. Except one. Wonder who that could be? Must be someone lazy...

Pretty amazing how much better this team can play (and actually win) when they choose to use talent instead of playing "goon-it-up" hockey.
