I realize that many people on this forum weren't born yet when the Red Wings were a bad team. There's a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of one's team, especially when it is improvement over the recent past. After a number of good years, one tends to take it in stride and expect that the prior results will continue, whereas teams with a history of falling short will show their excitement over small achievements. And so, in many ways, the Wings fans of today are like adults who are so busy striving for the Big Prize that we fail to stop and appreciate the lesser accomplishments that we achieve on our way to the Big Prize. And the Blues fans are like children who still announce to the entire household, "I made poopoo in the potty!"

*Read with dripping sarcasm Oh no, you couldn't be more wrong. The Red Wings keep their players down in the minor league system until way after they are ready to play for the club. Haven't you heard? For the record, I'm so tired of hearing this one.

I don't think I could list five, but I will say I'd have liked the Pittsburgh/Carolina series in 2009 to go more than 4 games. Even though the Wings took the first two games of the series, Pittsburgh had a longer break because of the sweep, and it probably gave them more gas in the tank to do what we all know they ended up doing (I won't reiterate that story).

I really don't understand why Nyquist and Smith weren't up the whole season.

Cleary is playing so poor, that I don't even notice him falling down anymore. He may think about retiring in the offseason. Either way, if this continues and he does nothing the rest of the year, he shouldn't be brought back.

Ya he really needs to go. He surely does not help anything. Both him and Clearly need to hit the road and get some hungry guys in here.

Cleary needs to go on IR and we should play Nyquist in his place for the rest of the year. At least Nyquist is playing with some heart

A PP that doesn't result in a SH goal against us is already something to cheer for.

What a dick move. I second that, I would of rolled him straight to the ice and right over any son of a ***** who tried to stop me. Insurance my ass. Where was the game played? Was there a true home team, perhaps Hill-Murray? I didn't see it mentioned in the article, or I missed it.

Way to much reading ... before we lost Pavel, Nick, Howie, Bert, Ericsson, and Kindl all within a 2.5 game span we were leading the Presidents trophy race. Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Vancouver etc are all playing pretty average hockey right now and nursing injuries. Guess what? Theyve all been around a block a few times. St Louis is playing hard nosed playoff style hockey and chasing the dragon hard. Their a badass team no question - but guess what? Id rather have my team peak 3 weeks from now with a rested and healthy lineup instead of rushing our wounded back to soon to try and catch up to a group of excited kids working their asses off for a trophy that doesnt mean anything. What does Buffalo, Vancouver, Washington, San Jose and (probably St Louis) have in common? They've all won the Presidents trophy in the post lockout era but have yet to have a Cup in their entire franchise histories. I live in Vancouver - I had to listen to this dog and pony show from success-starved desperately excited fans a year ago. Go on with the chlorophyll..........

I got bored after the first paragraph, honestly. Having not made it out of the first round of the playoffs in ten years, I get that you guys are excited there and post things like this. But as the Wings have learned from painful experiences over the years, stats and the President's Trophy don't count for jack in the postseason. Home ice advantage yes, but that's it.

What a dumbass. BOOO ******* HOOO! You got sent to the AHL so you whine and cry and don't wanna play, and then retire and throw your skates in the Hudson River at age 31? I really hope its true...hockey needs less of these prima donna douchebags.
