I'd just like to point out that there is a big difference between leaving your feet to jump into a player, and leaving your feet slightly AFTER impact due to the momentum.

I'm not usually one to start new topics, but after revisiting a long-standing discussion with my dad, I was curious as to the thoughts of everyone here. I have seen a lot of players come and go during my time as a Red Wings fan, and normally I am able to embrace every player that walks through the doors of the Joe with open arms. They become "ours," regardless of past team affiliation or douchebaggery. The one exception to this for me is my unending, irrational, fiery hatred of Brett Hull. I hate that he ever wore a Wings jersey. When he would take the ice, I would pretend it was Dougie Brown skating around as to not succumb to a Rage!stroke. To this day, I still roll my eyes when I see pictures of him in the winged wheel. I get people hating on players like Lebderp, and I get people spouting hatred when a trade is first announced or a player first comes to the D--but has anyone else just not been able to shake a ridiculous dislike for a contributing, well-respected member of the team?

Burrows can't go toe to toe with the leagues toughest and he can't score 40 goals. Burrows is a pest, Clark was one of the best hockey players of his era.

    2012 Lockout Watch

Sure the job is hard but guess what? The dwarfs salary has been rising since the last lockout this guy has made more than 90 % of the players! Bettman will be responsible for 3 lockouts in a row there is no excuse for that. He is the guy who wanted the sunbelt expansion and promised some franchises, who just don't cut it to get them on track. One would think, guys like Mr. I, Sneider, MLSE (now Bell & Rogers) and some other owners aren't too happy with paying for his failed decisions. If the owners can't control themselves screw them. The way he has responded to a fair offer for me indicates, he doesn't give a ... about the players so I really hope the players will return the favor and give him and his greedy owners a ridiculous new offer. Fehr did and excellent job by creating a war inside the owners :-) You can be the mouthpiece of the owners sure thats the job of a commissioner but being an absolute **** is not required for the job, so this guy is the wrong person and he needs to canned.

Do you hate everyone who's ever been in a hockey fight? How can you say Wendel Clark was a useless goon? He wasn't even a goon. The guy was a pretty good player in his prime. I suppose he scored 300 goals despite having "no skill" as you put it?

When my family had WHL players billet with us we had two guys that were considered "enforcer" type players and neither of them ever dreaded their fights with the exception of one time maybe. Most of the fights were either planned ahead of time, started by two guys to get their teams going when neither team was doing much, or a fight for retribution from a dirty hit and when it came to those they said they didn't mind fighting someone to show their team that they had their back. I know fighting is a touchy subject with some people but I really do think it has a place in hockey and a lot of people would stop watching if it was taken out. It has less to to with our barbaric love of violence and a lot more to do with preserving tradition in a sport that seems hellbent on becoming soccer.

Should Kronwall have to answer the bell for his hits?

Needing to fight after legal hits isn't too far from needing to fight after legal goals.

FIghting has been a part of North American hockey for a long time. I don't want that tradition to change. I shouldn't have to watch the UFC to see a sport I've been watching since I was a kid.

Our powerplay is no longer an enforcer. It flat out sucks. And nobody is rattled by our team like they were say in 2002. In the meantime, go watch the NBA.

and obviously you are not a wings fan which we all know. So your point on the matter is a bit skewed and to say that 50% of his hits are illegal?? really? maybe you should re-watch some of his hits there chief and take off whatever color glasses you have on.if his hits were 50% dirty and should of been penalized...why have they not been,...and why has he not been suspended? hmmmmmm

So you would make him answer for clean hits which are pretty much 99% of his hits? Why is that?

Red Wings player ratings for NHL 13

At least its not osgood in real life! 19:05 of the third. Wings up by one. MacInnis from the red line. Good God.

In a perfect world, Kronwall would crush someone with a clean hit, then when some idiot dropped the gloves and went after him, Kronner would start throwing haymakers and drop that guy too. But he's just not that player. Would I love him to beat the crap out of someone who expects him to fight for a clean hit? Yes. Should he HAVE to fight for a clean hit? No.

I like to queue metallica's enter sandman everytime i see clips of kronner crunching folks.

As long as it is a clean hit, hell no. One of the first things I was told when playing hockey was "KEEP YOUR HEAD UP". If you got your head down and you get blown up it is on you. No one should have to answer for you not paying attention.

Sometimes it's kind of fun to edit whether certain players fight or not. For example, usually the programmers set Crosby's fighting frequency to "Never" so that when you try to challenge him to a fight he doesn't oblige. If you set it to sometimes or always (or whatever it is) then you can activate an enforcer and pound on him all you want. Hey, it's what video games are for, right? So you can witness phenomena you don't normally see in real life.

This pisses me off to no end. Lockout or not, holland's excuses for cancelling this tournament don't fly with me.

Hasek. It wasn't even so much I disliked him -- it was more the fact that he wasn't Ozzie. I could never really get behind fully supporting Dom in net because I had grown to like Osgood so much over the years. Needless to say, the 2008 playoffs with the Ozzie storyline is a favorite moment of mine.

    Prospects Tournament Cancelled

Well, that sucks donkey balls. I feel bad for the kids, but I do think that cancelling it well in advance was the right choice by the families and also the businesses (especially motels) in the area that would have been effected by being forced to cancel at a later date.
