Datsyuk 2nd degree separated shoulder injury - out approx 4 weeks
krsmith17 and 2 others reacted to hooon for a post in a topic
Its nice that he's doing well, but I remember this happening last year with our guys where we'd get them back in the lineup as soon as possible, and then they'd be out again soon after, or be relatively ineffective when they returned. I'd almost rather he takes the extra week or two off, rather than risk reinjuring or playing at less than 100%. Either way, its good news that he's healing well, and I'm excited for when he comes back and works his magic again. -

TSN Luke Schenn could be available

But he's big. I mean, look at the size of him. Who cares if he's any good or not? He's big. That's all that matters. We could pair him up with Mike Mckee and teams would be scared to death. Because NHL coaches, the league over, are bewildered by club footed meatheads. You know, cuz they're big. -

1 pointI don't know that I agree he's regressed, he just hasn't been given the right role. Philly is a terrible place to judge a defenseman, too. Berube didn't trust Schenn enough to use him as a shut-down guy and that's what he's best suited for at this point. His 260 hits last year was 6th in the league and he only played 16:32 a night. In Toronto, the Leafs desperately wanted him to be an offensive defenseman (I think they think all defensemen should be offensive-defensemen, though), which he just isn't... I certainly wouldn't be opposed to him coming to Detroit, if they are going to use him as a shut-down guy (physical presence) and penalty killer. If the expectation is that he's 'fix' the defense or develop into a 'different' player, I hope we don't waste time with it.

TSN Radio - McKenzie: Enforcers in the NHL
jimmyemeryhunter reacted to Yzerman19 for a post in a topic
Reminds me of the Grind line, they were efficient in enforcing pretty much every thing, so gritty and so protective (especially mc carty). Otoh back then we had star players that could handle themselves (shanny, Hull,...). Yes we need to find this kind of spirit back, because even our enforcers' line is not that intimidating as it used to be. -

TSN Radio - McKenzie: Enforcers in the NHL

Fully agreed and it really pisses me off, how such great, honorable and respectful guys aren't getting the support they deserve from everybody. These guys are fully aware of the dangers, consequens and yet they are sticking up for something honorable and their teammates no matter at what cost. Another reason why I can't stand the anti-fighting crowd those guys deserve nothing but the utmost respect. Fully agreed the Devils should sign Big Mac Steve MacIntyre or Gillies if he doesn't make the Flames roster and let Clowe focus on playing on the edge without risking further damages. -

TSN Luke Schenn could be available
frankgrimes reacted to jimmyemeryhunter for a post in a topic
I feel like wed Waste assets getting him here and he'd end up being our seventh. Or he comes over and gets beat out by a kid with higher potential. Then only thing he brings that we don't have is the physicality, which is something we need, but I don't see us using it very well. Ala too too. I get he's on the back end, but he's not a top four guy offensively or defensively. He's shown flashes but nothing to merit giving up something that'll be better for. He could just need a change of scenery, sure, but i don't think he fills any holes we can't fill from within. He is a good hitter. -

Maybe he needs a better defensive partner or some sort of mentor? I've seen a few games of him too, he was really good in his first year. I'm also sure Brayden wouldn't be too happy seeing his brother traded. -
1 pointDo you guys know if Fox sport Detroit has a system like NHLGamecenter? I live in Europe and i would love to have pregame and postgame shows, and to be honest I love Mickey and Kenny, i think they are great.

1 pointI'm not against playing tough, I would love to have a Shanahan on our team. Having a guy who is a good player, tough and willing to drop the gloves can never hurt. My issue is wasting a roster spot on a guy like McGrattan.

Might want to read the FAQs about Gamecenter blackouts on the NHL's site here: http://www.nhl.com/ice/ziplookup.htm?q=48201 You'll find one of the paragraphs in particular rather interesting. -

Ive seen him play quite a bit, hes overpaid and actually pretty bad... At most hes a 6th MAYBE 5th defenceman. Although we could use a guy like him, it would have to be at a much lower cap hit. I would probably trade Kindl for him though.. -

Datsyuk 2nd degree separated shoulder injury - out approx 4 weeks
wings4thecup06 reacted to Hockeytown0001 for a post in a topic
Follow Ansar Khan@AnsarKhanMLive Datysuk, who suffered separated right shoulder 10 days ago, seems to be passing and shooting well. Estimated to be out another 2-3 weeks. -
1 pointI don't think he does. There is so much turnover in the roster going on that he's basically getting a whole new set of players to coach. He may have been here for ten years, but most of his team will only be with him two or three years. You had to jump when you had the same roster for 10 years but already we're seeing a changeover, and I expect some retirements and trades to make the roster that much different the next year or two.

http://www.tsn.ca/video/connor-mcdavid-conversation-1.94816 A very well spoken, level headed down to earth guy. McKenzie - as always - did a great job asking respectful but also funny question. Highlights: - hates players who put themselves over the game - feels extremely lucky and fortunate to be in this position - owes his mum and dad everything - is a bit superstitious 8/10 - thinks Jack Eichel is a great player - believes Finland wasn't the best team on paper but they were the best team because they've played as an unit Impressed with how mature and well spoken he is for a 17 old. -

What's Callahan going to do, bleed on him? He's 6ft. and 195 lbs. There's no honor or virtue in getting mauled by a giant. -
