Cholowksi might be one to keep an eye on. Hopefully he plays his way onto the roster sooner rather than later.

I have seen Dahlin play live twice now. He's 17 and it's his second year in SHL, Sweden's top league. Right now he's about 6'2, 180ish pounds. He'll probably end up 6'3-6'4, 190lbs with about Erik Karlsson's skill set. Think Victor Hedman from Tampa Bay with Karlsson's offensive ability. He'll define whatever team he ends up on for over a decade.

I hear ya, but it's not very often that a defenseman is regarded this high leading up to a draft. The last two I can remember that were considered "can't miss", total package (skill and size), were Ekblad in 2014 and Hedman in 2009. Dahlin is exactly what this team needs in my opinion.

Yeah, really hoping he fast tracks to the NHL. One season with Prince George, playoffs with Grand Rapids, and half season in GR before coming up full time mid next season. That would be great to see. Probably still 2+ years before he gets up full time though...

Personally, I don't think anyone short of Crosby or McDavid is a can't-miss. But, yes, Dahlin is looking very much like a future franchise defenseman.

Good old Danny boy is back, but not as a player. As everyone's favorite H St. James reports:

Nielsen isn't as good as he once was, and on a good team he probably would be a 3rd line center. As far as trading Sheahan goes, it'll be a salary dump. I'd rather move Glendening, personally, but I don't know if anyone would take him with his contract. Sheahan at least only has one year left.

"..in peace and harmony..." From those lines, I'd say that Bert definitely makes the team. They already stated when they signed him that Witkowski wouldn't play every game. Obviously P.A.P. is in for AA, so if both those guys were on the team, it'd be questionable, but I doubt that would happen - might not even possible under the cap unless Parenteau would be signed for a low contract like Bert's.

Ok stop arguing you two or you won't get any dessert. *looks at Khan's lines* Hm I gotta watch that second line some. We will loose a lot, might as well get some excitement factor in.

Same here i can definitely Cholo on the team within a couple years he will more then likely play Juniors this year and then GR next season and depending on what happens. I could definitely see him coming up to the big club by the 2019/2020 season.

That'd be like Fredo being named head of the family.

Makes sense heaven forbid that Kronner should go on LTIR for the start of the season.

I've a strong feeling that Tyler Bertuzzi will make the club, Blashill seems very impressed with him.

I'm not "defensive or pissy" at all, I just find know-it-alls, people that think they're never wrong very annoying. That's you in a nutshell. Your comment was "A $5.5 million 3C is just outstanding". How is that a "shot at Jeff Blashill"? It's about his contract. Who signed him to that contract?
  15. 1 point
If we get him, we will also have a new leader for the mafia! Z only has 2 years left, right?
  16. 1 point
Ya personally i'd rather trade him for a pick then a mediocre prospect. The low value does bother me a bit, ideally if we trade him its for a something of value and not just a salary dump.

I think Holland would budge, but not to 3mil. I could see him offering somewhere in the 1.9 - 2.2 range. Ya, there has been a lot of talk in Pittsburgh lately about this. Elliot Freedman tweeted something out about it the other day. Here are a couple articles I found. I think the first is a legit paper, the second seems to be a fan site, so take that one with a grain of salt. http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/penguins/2017/09/13/riley-sheahan-penguins-trade-rumors-detroit-red-wings-nhl-2017-season/stories/201709130143 https://www.pensburgh.com/2017/9/13/16302762/nhl-trade-rumors-price-right-for-riley-sheahan-in-a-detroit-to-pittsburgh-trade

And, from what I've seen of him, that label seems genuinely appropriate (for once). Kid is an absolute stud. He even Kronwalls people! A. Svechnikov is pretty much equally studly and is being hyped up as the most promising Russian prospect since Malkin and possibly even Ovechkin. The problem ("problem") is, he's a winger. Ovechkin's a winger, but he's arguably the greatest goal-scorer in NHL history. And Malkin's a franchise centerman. The Wings need top-end talent at every position, but everyone knows a Dahlin-type defenseman is at the top of the organization's wish list. (I think you and I are both in agreement on this stuff. I'm saying this more for people who aren't at all familiar with Dahlin and/or A. Svechnikov.) There would be riots in the streets of every major Canadian city. The league would be forced to shut down indefinitely. It would be chaos, anarchy. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! I want it. I want it so badly.

I don't follow Malik, or Helene. Not a fan of either (to put it mildly). My go-to has and always will be Khan.

    DRW Training Camp 2017

Training Camp starts this weekend, with intersquad practices and scrimmages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the Red & White game Monday afternoon. Team Delvecchio Forwards: Justin Abdelkader, Tyler Bertuzzi, Luke Glendening, Darren Helm, Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha, Frans Nielsen, Gustav Nyquist, P-A Parenteau, Riley Sheahan, Ben Street, Tomas Tatar, Luke Witkowski, Henrik Zetterberg Defensemen: Dennis Cholowski, Trevor Daley, Danny DeKeyser, Jonathan Ericsson, Mike Green, Nick Jensen, Niklas Kronwall, Xavier Ouellet, Ryan Sproul Goaltenders: Jimmy Howard, Petr Mrazek Team Howe Forwards: David Booth, Colin Campbell, Corey Elkins, Turner Elson, Luke Esposito, Matt Ford, Martin Frk, Axel Holmstrom, Matt Lorito, Dylan Sadowy, Dominik Shine, Evgeny Svechnikov, Eric Tangradi, Dominic Turgeon Defensemen: Joe Hicketts, Filip Hronek, Brian Lashoff, Pat McCarron, Dylan McIlrath, Dan Renouf, Robbie Russo, Vili Saarijarvi Goaltenders: Jared Coreau, Matej Machovsky, Tom McCollum Team Lindsay Forwards: Mike Borkowski, Austen Brassard, Oliver Castleman, Connor Crisp, Zach Gallant, Brady Gilmour, Isaac Johnson, Sean Josling, Luke Kutkevicius, Zach Nastasiuk, Michael Rasmussen, Givani Smith, Lane Zablocki Defensemen: Marcus Crawford, Simon Denis, Evan Fiala, Cole Fraser, Jordan Sambrook, Libor Sulak, Kevin Tansey, Reilly Webb Goaltenders: Corbin Boes, Kaden Fulcher, Pat Nagle The rosters are divided up a little different this year. Usually the teams are pretty even, with each team having one or two lines from Detroit and Grand Rapids with junior players and invitees sprinkled in. This year it looks like Team Delvecchio is more or less what we'll see in Detroit on opening night, Team Howe is what we'll see in Grand Rapids, and Team Lindsay consists of players headed to Toledo, back to junior and invitees. It is interesting to see Parenteau and Cholowski on Team Delvecchio. It looks like Parenteau may have the edge over Frk and Svechnikov, which I don't hate. As for Cholowski, there's no way he makes the team, they just needed to fill the roster with a 9th defenseman. Still cool he got the nod over any of the other defensemen though.

Blashill will probably neuter Bertuzzi of any furosity almost immediately
