Daniel Cleary is back on the Red Wings as director of player development

Awesome to see Cleary remaining with the team. Love that guy. Guy is warrior through and through. I was thinking he'd have some sort of role as a strength and conditioning coach or something, but player development could work as well. -
1 pointHey everyone, just wanted to share I've had a fun summer Red Wings related. Today I met Budd Lynch's nephew. I have a Life Insurance License, every year to keep the license valid, we need to earn credits. I earn credit by attending a day of teaching at a conference center, and the teaching includes a free lunch. Today at lunch, one of my coworkers and I had Lynch's nephew come up to us and ask if he could sit with us, because he didn't know anyone. We do the typical intros, "Nice to meet you", and small talk. There was a TV in the lunch room, and it had sports on. They were showing the Leafs training camp, so I said, "I'm not a fan, but I think the Leafs are going to have a good year". Lynch's nephew agreed, and said he not a Leafs fan either. I said, "I'm a Wings fan", and he said he is too. I told him, "I have family in Windsor, so I grew up going to Tigers and Wings games". Lynch's nephew said, "My Uncle worked with the Red Wings. He did different jobs, then play-by-play, and was the PA Announcer." My jaw dropped and I said, "Wait a minute, your Uncle is Budd Lynch?". Anyway, it was a fun conversation talking about Budd, Ted Lindsay, Gordie, Joe Louis Arena, the current Red Wings team, and more. I asked Budd's nephew when Budd started play-by-play (I forgot off hand), when he said 1949 I went, "He saw it all! That's when everything started". Add to that, in July I met Bob Probert's oldest daughter, she works at a restaurant owned by family on my Uncle's side. We were sitting down waiting to order, and my Aunt goes, "Oh, Probert's daughter works here, there she is over there". I said, "Really? I want to ask her about her Dad then, but how could I bring it up?". My Aunt says, "I'll ask her how the Bikers Fundraiser went, then you can say something". Anyway, my Aunt asks Probert's daughter about the fundraiser, so I said, "Yeah, my Aunt says you work here. I can see the family resemblance" (she does look like her dad). I added, "I remember your Dad, he was a great player. I remember when him and Joey Kocur where the 'Bruise Brothers'". Probie's daughter said, "Oh Joey Kocur, he's so nice". Leaving I said to her, "I'm going to brag to my friends I met one of Probert's daughters. Maybe you get that a lot?" She said, "Sometimes". Cool huh?

1 pointKhan on the Svechnikov-Larkin-Mantha line: That's what I like to hear.
-
1 pointI'm hoping Larkin and Mantha develop some special chemistry. Euro NA Twins FTW.
-
1 pointEnd of 1st, Red 3 vs White 0 Daley, from Mantha and Helm Mantha, from Sulak and Rasmussen Larkin, from Russo and Mantha Mantha with a goal and two assists so far. Can't wait to watch him rip it up this season.

12:00 p.m. EST. It will be streamed live on MyFoxDetroit.com. I'm not sure if it's being broadcasted anywhere else, so if anyone else knows of another stream, let us know. -

Yup once AA resigns and it sounds like it could be in the next couple of days, That pretty much is our season opening lineup at least from what Blashill and Holland were saying outside of any injuries of course. -

Just got back from MI and seeing Kid Rock at the LCA. All I can say is D**N the LCA has won me over and I hate changes in my stadiums. From the moment we walked in attendees were asking how could they help you etc. I NEVER waited line for a beer or for bathroom break. My GF was saying other than 1 hitch where she waited for 2 minutes the woman's bathroom line MOVED QUICKLY. The seats have room where your knees don't smack the person in front of you in the head. They even have CUP HOLDERS in the lower bowl seats which is where we sat section 116 row 11. I am assuming that is standard all the way up to the upper upper seats. I am already looking at calendars and figuring out when I can get back to see a game as I don't think there is going to be a bad seat in the house. Plus we didn't get to see the scoreboard as that was retracted during the concert and the led roof was pretty cool too. -

Day 2: Seated in row 3, only 10 feet from the ice. Cholowski back down with kids today. Lashoff, who really stood out yesterday when scimmaging with kids, is back up with bigs. Svech looks really good, although not surprising considering who he is playing with. I still don't think he's ready for full time NHL duty yet. No kids really stood out over the others, although I did like what I saw from Hicketts. Another stand out from the B squad was McIlrath. I realize he's not a prospect, but his experience (like Booth) kinda made up for less skill. Tangradi went down with an injury on Friday, had to be helped off the ice. DNP on Saturday, don't know how severe injury is. Scrimmage game went to shootout. Tatar with sweet GWG on Pat Nagle. Larkin looks REALLY good, hope this translates to a bounce back year. Bertuzzi probably makes Wings roster as a 4th liner. Definitely not a scorer, too small to be physical. Did not look out of place, but did not really excel at anything specifically. Witkowski didn't look out of place either. I really thought he would be out of his element, but held his own. Witkowski's whiskers > Hank's zetterbeard. Blashill throwing out some F bombs at practice that could be heard from the stands. LOL Unable to attend day 3 due to prior engagement. Will post pics later.
