Good riddance. He's way too right-handed anyway.

Yeahhhhhh. Kovy ain't coming here. I doubt Detroit is truly interested. But man, you guys have soft spines. You've been imagining and strategizing your way through a full rebuild on the back of all of the things Holland has said about 2-3 year plan/accumulating draft picks/3-5 young players making the team, etc. along with Blashill's statements about the roster being wide open. And rightfully so I think. Then one stupid little tweet from Dreger and that's all out the door and now Holland's trying to win the cup this year or something and nothing ever changes? Pleez

I think Carlson gets 8 x 7 if he leaves or 7 x 8 if he stays. Green will get 5 x 2 from Holland. Yeah.

Andersson, along with several other scouts who work under him, has the responsibility of monitoring every league in Europe where future NHL talent might be found. From September to April every year he watches around 200 hockey games looking for players whose skill sets indicate they could be a fit for the Detroit Red Wings system. Starting in Stockholm, he moves on to cover the rest of Sweden, then Finland, and will sometimes go as far as the Czech Republic and Russia. Right, and what is missed in all of this is how many swings and misses did he have back in the Zetterberg, Franzen, Datsyuk time frame? Before that? I think this whole thing is blown out of perspective because he happened to find some late gems. The guy has been a scout for the Wings since 1990.

Hronek was probably scouted at least once by Hakan before being drafted, but he's definitely not a Hakan find. Czech isn't Hakan's territory. Off the top of my head the only recent successful Hakan picks have been Janmark and Jarnkrok, ironically both are no longer with the team. Hopefully Holmstrom joins them as a success story soon. Then there's Setkov, Malmstrom, Elfstrom, Larsson, Lindstrom, Vahatalo, Ehn, Van Pottelberghe, Melen, Pulkkinen, Backman, and Bodin... there's still time for the first 8, but yeah a lot of swings and misses from Hakan over the last 8 or so years.... Thing is, pulling 3 possible NHL players out of about 15 picks, is still pretty good by draft standards... he just hasn't had a homerun type pick since Nyquist in 2008

If you told someone 10 years ago that Donald Trump and Dennis Rodman would be our negotiating team for nuclear disarmament with Kim Jong Un, you'd be laughed out of the friggin room. But here we are...

Maybe he means pushing in the card playing context. C'mon you guys, first you complain there aren't enough top 6 RH on this team, and then you moan when Kenny goes after one. *sarcasm* Is this a typo? I think that getting OEL to re-up in AZ would more likely require an "oral" agreement.

I feel like, from an outside source who really doesn't know anything specific about Bylsma other than he has a cup with Pittsburgh, that this is a good move. I also read comments from PEN15 fans who are saying that he's a nightmare and isn't good with the players (treats them like employees instead of men). Yeah, he's already slated on ElitePropsects to be playing for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

I might be ok with a 1 year deal if we also trade away a forward or two.. A one year deal/trade at the deadline is the only way Kovy signing in Detroit even remotely makes sense for both sides. He gets to compete for a cup, will fit under the cap of a cup team easier because we can retain half the hit, and he gets to prove he’s still got it for a bigger contract. We get free pick(s)/prospect(s). Then again, there’s a chance none of this is even true. I know Dreger is one of the most reliable sources but this rumor is hard to believe.

Starting to get a "We were counting on getting Dahlin. We didn't get Dahlin. So now we're looking to make desperation moves to help us do that Vegas thing that Vegas did" vibes from the Wings lately. I'm only in favor of this if they lean into it 100%. If we're actually serious about signing a guy like Kovalchuk, then we might as well trade up for Zadina and put Rasmussen and Svechnikov and Hronek on the team out of camp and trade for a high-end NHL defenseman. No half measures. Do the thing.

Ovi needs to sober up, game 6 is tonight and he's gonna blow the 4-1 lead like the Caps always do if he's not careful

Smartest bit in this thread. Every time you kneel during the anthem, you grow Trumps base. Every time you air an episode of a comedy show that bashes Trump for 30 minutes, you grow Trumps base. Every time you make a simple white house ceremony political by refusing to attend, you grow Trumps base. What is Trump's base?... Conservative? Racist? That's up to your personal POV, but regardless, these actions feed the beast.... The man ran a campaign (and is still running a campaign) as the "attacked man". The media, the FBI, the republicans, the democrats, according to him they're all out to get him... and the more you pile on the stronger his stance as "the attacked man" becomes. To me this point should ring true whether you love him or hate him.... Yes, people absolutely cared when Tim Thomas didn't attend and made the whole thing political. What timeline are you living in? I thought it was really stupid of Thomas at the time, and I think it will be pretty dumb of DSP if he makes the same mistake. Let's just say I don't care for Obama... However, if Barack Obama invited me to the white house to congratulate me on a championship win, you're goddamn right I'd go. I'd shake his hand, smile for the camera, and exchange pleasantries, because that's what grown adults do. At the end of the day, no matter how much Barry O and I disagree, were both still Americans and we can put personal politics aside to enjoy an afternoon ceremony together. Tim Thomas lacked the maturity to do this, and is therefore IMO a big ol dingus. If DSP doesn't go, that's his prerogative. I just think the end result will be the exact opposite of what he's trying to achieve.

The Tkachuk gene alone makes him more valuable than most players. Keith literally bred a family of mother f***ers. I want in on that.

    1. True statement. Those teams were more balanced RH-LH than the team is now. 2. Downey + McCarty + Samuelsson + Maltby + Rafalski + Chelios = 6 RH. Frk + Glendening + Witkowski + Green + Jensen = 5 RH. 6 > 5. My statement was correct. 3. Again, this is a true statement. One can argue the importance that handedness had to do with it, but that doesn't make what I said "wrong". I was simply making an observation and stating that observation. Nowhere did I say that we had more success BECAUSE we had a more balanced right to left ratio during those seasons. FACT: Only 35% of NHLers are RH, yet 15 of the top 25 NHL scorers of all time (60%) were right handed. FACT: 7 of the top 10 scorers (70%) among Dmen in 2018 were righties, including the top 3. 6 of the top 12 forwards in scoring were RH (50%) in 2018. You can argue that this is all coincidence if you want to, but I disagree.
