I was going to joke about Goldberg becoming the underdog team's reclusive coach. I'm not so sure now he could even play the rink's janitor. At least the spam is getting better.

    2020 Offseason

I'm torn, on one hand I think Yzerman should do whatever he needs to do gather assets but on the other I'm not liking the terms on those contracts. On the third hand I guess Johnson and Killorn is not completely useless and could be good mentors on this team. I read somewhere about Tampa adding Alnefelt which would make me feel better about it. (the post was meant as a tongue-in-cheek remark about how we really need a fifth thread on this issue btw)

yes there is around $100m in cap space around the league, but there are also 57 roster spots open. Yzerman can ask for whatever he wants, there are only really few options for Brisebois and we don´t need Johnson nor Killorn in the moment. If Brisebois doesn´t like what SY wants, he has to move on and I don´t believe any other team would do TB a favour without proper repayment.

What does me wearing a face mask, or your dumb ass not wearing a face mask have to do with anything? What you or I do doesn't change the fact that there IS a global pandemic, and more importantly to this discussion, there IS a flat cap for the next few seasons.

    Seattle

Backpedaling? Where? When? You think that Seattle is going to end up with a 3 time Cup winning goalie and be traded a pick to take them? You think teams won't be better prepared this time around? You think Seattle is going to overachieve at every level (GM, coaching, roster) the same way LV did? Okay. You stick by that. I'll stick with logic and likelihood.

    Johnson, Killorn, and a 1st?

Sergachev is already signed. He'd be the only one I'd be willing to overpay for. I'd have mild interest in one of the other two, depending on the cost. I'm completely okay with taking on a bad contract for assets, but it has to be worth it. Johnson for four years at $5M, for a late 1st round pick isn't close to worth it in my opinion... Carolina got a mid 1st round pick last year for taking on Marleau for one year at $6M, and that was before Covid times... The price should be MUCH higher than that for a similar cap hit, over 4x the term, in this current climate...

Damn. Yeah, I forgot when Chicago kept having cap crunches there was a global pandemic and an unexpected flat cap. Oh wait, never mind, that didn't happen... I'm not saying what other teams will do. I'm saying what Yzerman should do. The Red Wings are not in position to be giving up assets for average, past their prime players. I'd take Killorn if there's an asset attached. If we have to send an asset to Tampa, no thanks! We don't need him.
